The client is ready. Your employee is ready. But the system is still making everyone wait.

A slow platform, delayed access, a frozen screen, or a process that takes too many steps may seem like a small inconvenience internally.

To the client, it feels like slow service.

That’s where IT stops being just an internal issue and starts affecting the customer experience.

When technology creates friction, your team has to fill the gap. They apologize, stall, repeat steps, switch tools, or ask the client to wait.

Over time, those small delays can affect trust, productivity, and the way your business is perceived.

Good technology should support great service — not slow it down.

If your team regularly has to say “just one moment” because the system isn’t keeping up, that’s worth paying attention to.

She only needs access to one file.

But if permissions aren’t set up properly, that simple request can turn into a chain of messages, interruptions, approvals, and wasted time.

Someone asks for access.
Someone else has to stop working to help.
Nobody is sure who owns the folder.
The right permission still isn’t there.

That’s how small IT friction quietly becomes an operational problem.

File access should be simple, secure, and intentional. The right people should have access to what they need — and nothing they don’t.

When permissions are managed properly, your team spends less time chasing access and more time doing the work.

**How often does “Can you give me access to this?” interrupt someone’s day in your office?**

A new employee’s first day should be about learning the business — not waiting for access, passwords, devices, or permissions.

When onboarding isn’t planned properly, small IT issues can turn into a frustrating first impression.

The laptop isn’t ready.
The email account still needs to be created.
The right folders aren’t accessible.
Security settings haven’t been configured.
Someone has to stop what they’re doing to fix it.

None of that should be happening after the employee arrives.

A smoother onboarding process starts before day one, with the right accounts, access, devices, permissions, and security already in place.

When the technology is ready, the employee can focus on becoming productive faster — and your team doesn’t have to scramble behind the scenes.

The meeting started on time. The technology didn’t.

A screen that won’t connect, a presentation that won’t load, audio that suddenly stops working — these problems may look small, but they immediately affect everyone in the room.

One person starts troubleshooting. Everyone else starts waiting.

That’s the part businesses often underestimate.

IT issues don’t just affect the person using the device. They interrupt meetings, delay decisions, waste team time, and can make a client-facing moment feel less professional than it should.

Reliable technology should be almost invisible. It should simply work when your team needs it.

If every meeting starts with someone asking, “Can you see my screen?” and hoping for the best, that friction is worth fixing.

“It’s always been slow” is one of those phrases that sounds harmless — until you think about how often your team says it.

A slow computer, a system that takes too long to load, files that lag, apps that freeze, or software that needs to be restarted over and over can quietly become part of the workday.

The problem is that small delays don’t stay small when they happen every day, across multiple employees.

A few lost minutes here and there can turn into hours of lost productivity over time.

And once the team gets used to it, the issue often stops being reported altogether.

Slow technology shouldn’t be treated as normal.

Your systems should help your team move faster, not force them to wait.

If “it’s always been like that” is the explanation for a recurring tech issue in your office, it may be time to take a closer look.

For 17 months, someone read corporate portals worldwide. No password was stolen.

Researchers at Reco tracked a data-extraction operation they named City-Forum, running from an abandoned domain pointed at a rented server since at least March 2025. The targets included banks, telecom carriers, enterprise software vendors and public sector portals. The heaviest-hit target logged more than 560,000 events from a single address.

Here's what makes it worth a business owner's attention: no software was exploited and no credentials were needed. Salesforce Experience Cloud and ServiceNow both run a permanent guest account for anonymous visitors, and its permissions are set by the organization. Nothing left those portals that they weren't configured to hand over. The researcher framed it as the distance between what is public and what was meant to be public.

The harder part came after. Logs showed that searches ran, but not reliably what came back — meaning a company could see the traffic and still not know what was exposed.

Most cloud tools work on the same principle: portals, shared drives, CRMs, contractor accounts. Access accumulates quietly, one reasonable decision at a time.

When employees have to invent workarounds just to get through the day, the problem usually isn’t the employee — it’s the technology getting in the way.

Slow systems, unreliable access, recurring glitches, disconnected tools, and “temporary fixes” can quietly become part of the routine. Eventually, the team stops reporting them because they’ve learned how to work around them.

That doesn’t mean the problem is solved.

It means your employees are spending time compensating for IT instead of using it to do their jobs better.

Good technology should remove friction, support the way your team actually works, and stay out of the way when everything is running properly.

If your team has a tech issue they’ve simply learned to live with, it may be worth taking another look.

**What’s one IT workaround your team considers “normal” now?**

Your backup ran last night. Can anyone prove it would actually open?

A completed backup only proves that data was copied. Recovery is a different event, and it only counts when that copy opens and the business can actually keep working.

That gap matters. Veeam found that 90% of leaders were confident they could recover, while only 28% of ransomware victims fully recovered their affected data.

💬 Comment **TEST** and we'll send you the short list of questions to ask whoever manages your backups.

Which one do you think is more dangerous for a business? 👀

Outdated software can leave known vulnerabilities exposed.
Weak passwords can make it far too easy for the wrong person to get in.

But if you had to choose just one…

OUTDATED SOFTWARE or WEAK PASSWORDS?

Drop your pick in the comments — and if your answer is “both”, tell us which one you’d fix first. 👇
