Hey Everyone! In light of October being Cyber Security Awareness Month, I've decided to post tiny but valuable tips/share posts once a day (schedule permitting) on how you could vastly improve the cybersecurity in your life to avoid identity theft and/or getting hacked! Hopefully, these tips can teach you something new each day, and if there's something specific you'd want to know/learn about just let me know in the comments!
STORY TIME!
So there were two people I've talked to recently on separate occasions where the topic of their network's router came up (whether home or office) and when I asked them about a specific setting within the router's configuration, they had no idea what I was talking about. When I told them that they could easily find out which option that particular setting is set to by accessing the router's management GUI, they responded with something the likes of "The router has a management GUI?".
And since I've had these conversations many more times in the past over the course of my business, I've decided to bring awareness to this as there are still many people out there using the default user/password combos on the management portal side (I'm not talking about the Wi-Fi name/password...that's different) since the routers left the factory line. And with some of those combos, you could easily find out what they are with a few google searches, or by looking at the bottom of the router. Great news for hackers, but bad news for you! So please look into the management GUI of your router, and change its password!
