This one trips up a LOT of people.
Think of your website like a house.
Your domain is the address people use to find it.
Your hosting is the land where the house actually lives.
And your website is the house itself.
You need an address so people know where to find you, and you need somewhere for your website's files and content to live.
Depending on how your website is set up, you may pay for those things through the same company... or completely different ones.
So when your web designer asks, "Who is your domain registered through?" and you immediately start questioning yourself, your website, and how you even got to this point in the first place.. You're in good company.
We'll figure it out.
