Cash transfers from your back account
Did you know?
Never leave Zelle on your account if you never use it.

If you don’t use your banks built in cash transfer app (Zelle), did you know you can call your bank and tell them to permanently disable it for your account? The only way to re-enable it is to go to the bank with 2 forms of ID and have it re-enabled from there. This way thieves can’t transfer any money out of your account without doing an ACH wire transfer (the old way to transfer money before Zelle) which takes much longer and always has a valid paper trail. Most banks wont even help you if they determine the Zelle cash transfer was valid but they MUST help you if the transfer was through an ACH wire transfer.

Be very careful about reading articles that are meant to scare you into buying or subscribing to a service like Identity or credit monitoring. I have read hundreds of articles that were flat out wrong in their description of how a theft can occur as well as how easy the theft can be perpetrated.

If your not sure about a scam, whether you should buy a specific product for identity theft protection or a cyber security just post your question to our Facebook account and we’ll get back to you. For a faster response, message me directly.

Bank Scams
Never give out any information to someone who CALLED YOU. Never give out your information to someone who just wants to verify your identity.

Anytime a financial institution calls you about ANYTHING, tell them your cyber security guy said to tell them you will call them back. A real financial institution will NEVER tell you that you cannot reach them or that you must stay on the phone with them now. Say “goodbye", then Hang up. Look on the back of your card or on your statement for their main number and call them back. They will ALWAYS know what you are calling about if the person who called you was real.

A financial institution will NEVER tell you that you must deal with this issue right now. They will always allow you to call them back so you can verify your are dealing with the right company (bank, credit card etc.).

As always, if you'd like to get information about our services simply click on our webpage below.

Personal Privacy
Here is a list of web browser extensions that all focus on privacy, blocking surveillance, and trackers. I run them on Microsoft Windows as well as Android on a Samsung Galaxy S21 Smartphone running the Kiwi Web Browser (as browser extensions are not supported on Android’s Chrome browser). These are the browser extensions I run on all of my Windows computers and Smartphones. By the way I don’t use Chrome browser, I use Kiwi which does support browser extensions on smartphones. NEVER use chrome on a smartphone as it does not support any browser extensions. This means you can’t stop ads, pop-ups or trackers.

Bitdefender Anti-Virus Anti-Tracker (available for free if you don’t use Bitdefender, but why aren’t you?)
Dashlane or Bitwarden Password Manager (either password manager is excellent)
Disconnect tracking and surveillance blocker
Guardio privacy & security
Https Everywhere requiring encryption on all website connections
Malwarebytes Browser Guard filters scams and blocks trackers
Privacy Badger blocks trackers and advertiser surveillance

Home Network Security
Home networks are currently secured with WPA2. WPA2is the most widespread home network encryption in use today, even though the encryption has been cracked. Today we see a new standard in use. It’s called WPA3.

WPA2 Vulnerabilities
1. WPA2 is vulnerable to KRACK attacks. This type of attack is relatively easy for a trained hacker to pull off.
2. More commonly, if you use a weak password for your home’s WPA2 network you are vulnerable to offline dictionary attacks, a type of attack where I try thousands if not millions of passwords until my computer guesses the correct one.

WPA3 fixes the KRACK vulnerability as well as the weak password dictionary attack in WPA2.

WPA3 is the most secure wireless protocol available today.
The issue is most existing ISP supplied routers will not support WPA3 unless they are replaced. Only a small handful or ISP supplied routers were able to have their software upgraded from WPA2 to WPA3. Check with your ISP or look at the configuration of your existing router to see if WPA3 is available.

When buying a new router look for:
1. WPA3-certified hardware
2. Wi-Fi Enhanced Open
3. Wi-Fi Easy Connect certifications.
4. Choose a long, complex pass-phrase for the Wi-Fi network connection (use numbers, upper case and lower case letters, and "special" characters in your password).
5. Make it a passphrase instead of a single word like dooti-&ydT38*-fgrhth (that's a 20 character pass-phrase with upper case, lower case, and special characters).
6. Make the pass-phrase long—18 characters or more
You don't have to remember the password because your using a password manager, right!?!?

Identity Theft
This article is not surprising at all. Someone stole a man’s identity, applied for and received unemployment benefits in a different state. A state he’s never lived in. Then he receives an IRS tax bill demanding payment of back taxes.

If he had our Secure Identity setup this would not have happened. Take some time to read the article, it even gives you an idea of just how common this is.

We can prevent this from happening. I designed Secure Identity to protect a person’s identity so no one else can use your information anywhere without your knowledge and consent. Even if your information is already on the dark web or in the public domain, we can make your information all but useless to anyone but you.
