A phishing email reached one of our users this week, built to take over a Microsoft 365 account without ever asking for a password.

It's called device code phishing. A "confidential document" leads through a fake OneDrive link, a fake "I am human" check and a fake OneNote page to Microsoft's real sign-in page. There, you're asked to type in a code. That code belongs to the attacker.

The bottom line: Never type a code into a Microsoft page unless you started the sign-in yourself on a device you are holding.

See every step, with screenshots: https://zurl.co/K1OWD

Device code phishing uses Microsoft's real sign-in page to hand attackers your Microsoft 365 account. See every step, the red flags and what to do.

Before you click Cancel on Microsoft 365, Google Workspace or another cloud service, make sure you’ve exported everything the business needs.
Then check the export. Open the files, confirm that email and shared folders are included and find out whether connected apps need to be handled separately.
Read what to do while you still have access: https://zurl.co/DStvB

Canceling a cloud service? Export your data, test the files and move connected apps first. Here's what to check while you still have access.

“Can I use my own laptop for work?”
Before approving it, decide what company information can be stored on the laptop, who will support it and how you’ll remove work data when the employee leaves.
Read what to put in place before personal devices are used for work: https://zurl.co/JAsXY

Before staff add work email to a personal phone, decide what they can access, how the device is secured and how company data gets removed when they leave.

We want to hear it. 👇

What's the one tech problem that keeps showing up in your day right now? Maybe the Wi-Fi drops mid-meeting, passwords keep piling up or there's a printer with a mind of its own. Big or small, drop it in the comments.

We'll pull a few of the most common answers and share practical fixes in an upcoming post.

Employees with administrator access can install programs, remove software and change important settings.

That may be convenient, but it also increases the damage that malicious software or a compromised account can cause.

If you want your team to work fast, don't skimp on their computers or your internet.
Everything moves quicker than it used to. Customers want fast replies, and the jobs often go to whoever gets back to them first. Your team can't be quick if their tools are slow.
A laptop that takes an age to load, internet that keeps dropping, cheap software that hangs, all of it means your people spend half the day waiting around and working out ways past the problem. It's frustrating, and good staff hate not being able to get on with the job because of the gear they've been given.
Spend a bit more here and you get it back. The work goes faster, and people are happier doing it.
You don't need top-of-the-range everything. You just need computers and a connection that are quick and reliable enough to stay out of your team's way.
