VMWare snapshots and disk consolidation. A snapshot works kind of like a backup. Before you perform a major upgrade, you can take a snapshot of the VM and perform the upgrade. If it doesn’t go well, you can revert the VM’s state back to the point when the snapshot was taken. When you take a snapshot of a VM, all of the changes are written to a differencing disk while the snapshot is active. The longer the snapshot is active, the bigger the differencing disk grows. Best practices are to take a snapshot before an upgrade, perform the upgrade, and then delete the snapshot. Don’t leave the snapshot around because you might need it. A lot of people in the GovCon (Government Contractors) and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) space are talking about NeoSystems LLC right now.

Important Cybersecurity Notice for Canvas Users!

Recent cybersecurity incidents affecting educational technology platforms highlight the importance of protecting your online accounts and personal information.

Please do not assume your organization will never be targeted. In today’s environment, cyberattacks are not a matter of if — but when.

If you are a Canvas user, please take the following actions immediately:

1. Change Your Password - If you use the same or a similar password on other websites, change those passwords as well.

2. Minimum 15 characters
3. Avoid birthdays, names, or personal information
4. Longer passwords are stronger and easier to remember
5. Many websites require uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols

2. Do Not Reuse Passwords - Use a unique password for every important account.

3. Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) - Multi-factor authentication, or MFA, adds an extra layer of security and helps prevent unauthorized access.

4. Watch for Phishing and Spear Phishing Emails
Be especially cautious with emails that appear to come from:

1. Professors or teachers
2. Your school or IT department
3. Fellow students
4. Cybercriminals often impersonate trusted people or organizations to steal passwords or personal information.

Do not click suspicious links or attachments, and always verify unexpected requests before responding.
