🎉 Congratulations to Oklahoma Birth Equity Initiative — one of our 15 Social Sector Hero of the Year Honorable Mentions! 🎉
OKBEI stood out for its dedication to measurable impact, sharing data publicly, and implementation of the strategy "Disaggregate Data for Deeper Understanding."
Notably, OKBEI is tackling maternal health disparities through data-driven, community-centered doula services. By analyzing national and local maternal mortality and infant health data, they identified the highest-risk populations—teen parents, Black women, Native American/Indigenous women, and those navigating the justice system or substance recovery. Their commitment to data disaggregation ensures that marginalized communities receive targeted, culturally responsive care. Most recently, they expanded services to Spanish-speaking families after recognizing how language barriers contribute to maternal health risks. Data from their first five years shows significant decreases in low birth weight, preterm birth, and NICU admission rates among Black OKBEI clients.
As an Honorable Mention, OKBEI will receive a Results-Based Accountability (RBA) Professional Certification Course from Clear Impact, empowering their team to further strengthen their impact.
👏 Please join us in celebrating Oklahoma Birth Equity Initiative for this achievement!
