Well friends… this is it.
The liquidation is complete, the inventory has been sold, the shelves are empty, and after more than a decade, Dr. Derek Technology Services is officially closed.
The lights are going out for good. I'd like to leave you all with some pictures of my favorite builds over the years.
It is difficult to put into words what this business has meant to me. What began as a collection of skills, ideas, a desire to help those in need, and probably an unreasonable number of spare parts grew into something far greater than I ever expected. It became a way for me to help people, solve problems, build relationships, support my family, and do work that I genuinely loved.
Over the years, you trusted me with your computers, your businesses, your projects, your emergencies, and occasionally devices that appeared to have suffered a worse death than Dionysus himself! You allowed me to build, repair, upgrade, troubleshoot, recover, teach, and sometimes simply reassure you that no, you were not imagining it, the computer really was doing something completely ridiculous.
Every custom build, repair, referral, review, order, message, conversation, and “Hey Derek, I have a weird question…” helped make this business what it became.
And every one of them had a profound impact on me.
There are customers who became friends, families I had the privilege of helping for years, kids whose first real computer I was able to build and later watch them grow up through college, and people who trusted me again and again whenever technology decided to make their lives more complicated. Those relationships are what I will remember most. YOU ALL are what I will remember the most.
To everyone who supported me... thank you.
Thank you for trusting me.
Thank you for recommending me.
Thank you for encouraging me.
Thank you for laughing with me.
Thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your lives.
I am deeply grateful for every person who helped make this journey possible. Closing this chapter is bittersweet, but I am leaving it with an enormous amount of gratitude, pride, and memories that I will carry with me forever.
The tools are put away.
The website is empty.
The workbench is quiet.
And now, it’s time to turn off the lights.
