Word Docs Are the Wild West of Print Files
What looks perfect on your computer can show up on ours looking like it got into a bar fight.
When you design a brochure (or flyer, or program) in Microsoft Word and send the .doc file, a few things like to go rogue:
Fonts you carefully chose can vanish and get replaced with whatever Word decides is “close enough.”
Spacing shifts. Line breaks move. Images drift.
Suddenly the polished piece you approved looks like it was redesigned by a caffeinated raccoon.
A PDF, on the other hand, locks the whole design down; fonts, layout, images, everything. What you see is what we print. No surprises, no last-minute font substitutions, no layout that mysteriously rearranges itself between computers.
That’s why we always prefer a print-ready PDF. It protects your design from the chaos of “it looked fine on my screen.”
Already living in Word? Export it as a high-quality PDF before you send it. Your future self (and our production team) will thank you.
