Here is an example of a scam email I received recently. A few of things of note...
1. A company like Zelle would not be using a Gmail as their domain extension (at least not one that's visible to the customer). According to Zelle's website, "The only domain extension used by ZelleĀ® is .com or .com. ZelleĀ® does not use or any other domain such as , , or any other common email domain."
2. Bad spelling, grammar, punctuation and inconsistent formatting. Most professional companies have templates they use so the emails are consistent. They are typically proof read for accuracy and legal purposes.
3. Lack of addressing me as a customer (because it's automated) or by name because I'm being communicated to directly. In this example, you can see I'm not being addressed in any capacity. This comes off like a friend/someone personal sending me an email.
I'm sure there are a few other things of note, but those are the more obvious signs to something not being legit. I figured most of you know this but if you know someone who might not feel free to share. Hopefully it will cut down on people being scammed
