A student of Orlando Science High School Tech Campus, Dixit utilized the tCam-Mini and FLIR Lepton 3.5 for his project: R.A.M.P.A.T (Rapid, Affordable, Modular, Printed, Aerial Tiltrotor), a VTOL drone for emergency response teams to use.

We're always happy to see the AudioMoth community helping each other out - today we're highlighting Evergreen State College Professor, Alison Styring.

Styring has posted helpful OpenAcoustic Audiomoth programming tips on her YouTube channel.

She studies bird ecology and has done research in Malaysia for 20 years. Her research focuses on bird communities in mixed-use landscapes in Sarawak, and she conducts research in temperate rainforests in Washington state.

https://www.projectpromeon.es/ Project Promeon has two missions: to measure environmental parameters during descent and transmit them in real time to the ground; and to create a thermal map of the terrain using an infrared sensor to detect temperature variations and possible fires.

The team is utilizing a FLIR Lepton 3.1R sensor, and will integrate a PureThermal Mini USB interface board to complete the thermal imaging subsystem. Project Promeon is a CanSat® initiative of the ESA - European Space Agency that invites students from across Europe to design, build, and launch a mini-satellite the size of a soda can.

The main motivation behind Project Promeon is to explore the scientific value of thermal terrain observation from a small airborne platform. Through this project, it will collect and analyze data that helps better understand how heat is distributed across the Earth’s surface and how it changes during the CanSat’s descent.
