Why we at Weave Savings are so passionate about groups savings ❓ 😄
Two of the founders, Jeremy Showalter and Andy Cho built savings groups themselves and learned the values 🎁 of this practice.

Jeremy had been learning about the impact of savings groups around the world, and thought it could be applied in his immediate family setting. And he formed his first "Mutual Savings Account" for his family at his local credit union. His family pooled their emergency funds into a single group and used it as needed for many years.

At a similar time, Andy was experiencing informal financial networks in his Korean-American immigrant community and recognized the value of those structures for people outside the traditional financial markets.

What about you? Do you want to experience this amazing approach?

Vision Series: Weave Savings, Part 3.
⛳️⛳️⛳️ At Weave Savings "we see a world where relational capital empowers financial resilience, among individuals, families, and communities."

“where relational capital”
At Weave Savings we hold two extremes in mind when we build solutions toward this vision.

👉 Relationships can be very deep and strong, called “strong ties” or “strong bonds”. These could be your family, roommates, your bridesmaids, your BFFs, your tribe, your small group, etc. In various cultures we create words to describe this close type of connection.

These relationships can be easily identified when faced with tough life situations. We may not wish for the circumstances but we all want strong bonds like these.

Who do you call when your car breaks down and you need a lift? (Btw, AAA doesn’t count in this scenario!)

Who helps you move apartments when you can’t hire movers?

Who do you meet for coffee when you need to talk about a tough family situation?

👉 Relationships can be more superficial, not deep, though still a connection of some sort, called “weak ties” or “weak bonds”. They may not be the people you really know, but they are typically in frequent proximity or are a stronger tie in the past that has not be a frequent connection. They could be people you work with, or people you see at church but haven’t really talked to, or the new roommate that you aren’t really sure about yet.

At Weave Savings we see these weak ties, not as weakness but as opportunities to build the world you want to be true. To increase your relational capital, and theirs. To weave the social fabric you want to live in. The magic of strengthening relationships, is that they strengthen for everyone…not just as a benefit to you.

❤️ This is the heart of Weave Savings: mutual relationships, mutual benefit, collective strength. 🥰

Vision Series: Weave Savings, Part 4
⛳️⛳️⛳️ At Weave Savings we see a world where relational capital empowers financial resilience, among individuals, families, and communities.

“where relational capital”
Relational capital can also be applied to savings groups, to help everyone build the strong world they want to be true.

👉 Savings groups also have varying levels of relational capital, at the beginning, and that relational capital can increase over time

👉 Savings groups that form with members who all know each other have an advantage and are stronger initially. The summation of their relational capital is high! Make it count when it matters!

👉 Savings groups that form with members who do not know each other initially take more time to build the trust and connectedness. Their starting point is lower, but the increase over time can be significant and adds more value!

❤️ At Weave Savings we encourage people to be part of multiple groups and to create new groups to both maintain and grow already strong ties and help new groups form to strengthen weak ties. Both types of groups add value in different ways.
