What an incredible two weeks here in Nigeria. With the help of Internet Brands and Cactus Code we interviewed more than 70 prospective developers to grow our network of future connections to challenging, well-paying jobs in the US.

Since the beginning of 2022, Rapid River’s presence here has grown from zero people to 21 devs. The level of intelligence, enthusiasm, and hard work with this group is just off the charts. Looking forward to my next visit when this group will be larger, more experienced, and more prepared to succeed in the world of global software development.

From humble beginnings to acquisition! 🎉

We’re excited to share that our esteemed client EssayJack was recently acquired. EssayJack came to us in 2015 when they were just two passionate educators working out of Ottawa, Canada. They were referred to us by a mutual friend who had helped them build an MVP of their essay editing product. We helped them build EssayJack into what it is today and many of us at Rapid River have contributed to the product over the years. But acquisition isn't the end of this relationship. We will continue working with EJ's new owner Wize, helping them bring the Wize EdTech product forward. Here’s to old friends and new beginnings!

Rapid River provides a range of software development services, including web application development, data engineering and DevOps. We write software according to industry best practices, using techniques such as pair-programming, code review and automated code quality evaluation. We love Agile and practice either Scrum or Kanban on our projects. We are looking for capable software engineers of all levels to join our team.

* You’ll be a member of a small team of developers which delivers product increments in an Agile setting.
* You’ll help your team by producing quality work through planning sessions, pair programming, code review and the use of code quality metrics. You’ll help improve technical processes so that the whole team stays productive.
* You’ll look for and take opportunities to guide team members, helping them turn into stronger and more experienced software engineers.
* You’ll be able to talk extemporaneously about team status and progress with a variety of stakeholders.
* You'll probably choose to work from home because Rapid River is a remote-first company.

* You love to talk about the nuances and trade-offs of implementation approaches.
* You dabble in the cutting-edge, and debate with others in technical communities.
* You take pride in providing a quality solution, whether it be in coding style, test coverage, or correctness of the product.
* You like to get to know about peripheral disciplines which help you achieve quality, like QA, Project/Product Management, UI/UX Design.

Rapid River contributes to a large application built on a microservices architecture. The majority of the services in the stack are written in Ruby on Rails. We’re looking for a Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to join our team and contribute to this application.
