Highly recommend the well done, thought provoking & complex PBS series, "The American Revolution", by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein & David Schmidt. Not the simplistic, biased history story taught in school!

You can watch all episodes from your PBS station.

Thirteen colonies unite in rebellion, win their independence, and found the United States. Stream the full documentary from Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt.

George Rickey, renowned metal & kinetic sculptor, @ Hyde collection/Glens Falls, N.Y.

Many are not aware he lived in East Chatham, NY about 45 minutes south of Glens Falls. Bob & I visited his place & his fantastic outdoor sculpture display in the 80s.

My work in now in the NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF THE NETHERLANDS! Exciting news just received from author, Loulou Drinkwaard. Hooray!

I am humbled and remain honored to have been a part of this very challenging project & great team back in 2009.
I think the highlight of my long career has been my work placed in Library of Congress, lots of respected scholastic books, periodicals and articles.

Sub caption Dutch to English translation of my artwork: 2009 3D image by artist LH Barker, an imagination of the estate including Simon Overzee's plantation. I always appreciate proper credit!

Historical researchRotterdam has a significant role in our history of slavery, but that history is still mostly buried in international archives. Loulou Drinkwaard looked into the life of Antonio, a man who died on a Rotterdam plantation after repeatedly resisting a life of slavery. Loulou Drinkwaar...

Always fun to learn about historic markers featuring one of my historical paintings. This time it 2 separate panels in 2 different locations with the 'landscape' view of George Washington's boyhood home, Ferry Farm in Fredericksburg, VA created in 2008 for the George Washington Foundation. I even received proper credit for the painting in both. Yeh!

Notice: lhbarkerstudio.com is no longer online until I can migrate to a new host.

I downloaded website backups from my host’s server to migrate (twice, 2 weeks apart in August) that had Trojan viruses in host folders which tried to attack my workstation 27 times. Gratefully, Norton 360 caught them eventually and put them in quarantine, but not before I did numerous, thorough custom, full system (1TB) scans. Grrrr.

After having to repeatedly show host/prove the issue for several months, they finally made what seems to be a clean, custom backup zip folder I can migrate to download several days ago. The server my website was on was decommissioned today. They are no longer hosting websites.
