I would like to take a moment to say a giant Thank You to all that have served to protect this wonderful country and make it what it is today, a truly Free nation. My father served in the Navy, 3 brothers in the Army, a brother in the Air Force and a sister in the Marines, to them I am especially Thankful for the service they have given.

Working on another computer today!! This laptop randomly lost power and wouldn't turn back on! We know how important it is to have a running laptop these days with so many people working from home. We also understand that these repairs can be scary and expensive.

Recently we had the opportunity to help a client upgrade their PC as it was acting slow and sluggish. We cloned their older Hard Disc Drive (HDD) onto a new fast Solid State Drive (SSD). This made the start-up times drop from 30+ seconds down to around 4 with similar shut down times. Also every program that reads or stores data is now faster.

If you have seen your laptop/desktop getting slower or taking a long time to do simple things like load up a browser then bring it over and have a chat to see if we can help!

Here are a few quick hard-drive details:
HDD - Hard Disc Drive
- this is an actual disc that spins to read the data
- 100~200 megabytes per second read/write speeds

SSD - Solid State Drive
- 2 main types SATA and m.2 NVMe
- uses flash memory to store data which is fast, low voltage, and bump-shock proof
- (sata) 500~600 megabytes per second read/write speeds
- (NVMe) 3000~4000 megabytes per second read/write speeds

Newer laptops and motherboards usually support NVMe but not all computers do, however HDD's and sata SSD's are typically interchangeable and easy to upgrade.

Thought I would share this, but the speed, energy, and durability vastly out weigh the cost of getting an SSD. If you need an upgrade give us a call.

Remember to clean out the fans, dust-filters, and coolers on your PC and Laptops, especially if you have pets that shed. Build-ups of dust and hair cause excessive heat to build up and may cause components to fail early. Use a can of compressed air and avoid static surfaces when cleaning.

Recently I was able to help a client get the screen on their laptop replaced with a new one. The crack in the screen was visible but not impeding the ability to use it on a regular basis. However any damage to the screen makes it susceptible to additional damage so it's better to take care of these before it's a bigger issue. We got the new screen installed and as a bonus the new screen also included a touch digitizer making it a touch screen too!!
