I guess I’m on my soapbox today.
I recently saw someone argue that no Catholic parish staff member should be over 60.
I couldn’t disagree more.
Yes, Catholic communications needs to keep moving forward. We should use better tools, improve our websites, raise the bar on our bulletins, understand social media, and communicate in ways that actually reach people today.
But none of those things are the mission.
The Church needs faithful people who love Christ and are willing to serve His people, whether they are 25, 45, 65, or 85.
Technology changes. Platforms change. Communications strategies change.
The call to evangelize does not.
At Dery Media, we care deeply about helping parishes communicate better. But the best website, reel, QR code, or bulletin in the world cannot replace authentic relationships and people who are genuinely invested in the lives of others.
Raise the bar on communications.
Just don’t confuse the tools with the mission.
Are we invested in the life of people?
