Enjoy the Porch Swing. Taste the Lemonade.

Maybe Rural Adjacent isn't about moving to the middle of nowhere.

Maybe it's about creating a little more rural in the life you already have.

It's growing something in the backyard.
It's getting your produce from a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA).
It's learning how to preserve your produce.
It's cooking a meal from scratch.
It's sitting on the porch with someone you love.
It's slowing down long enough to actually enjoy the lemonade.

You don't need 100 acres.
You don't need a barn.
You don't even need to leave your house.

You just need to decide what kind of lifestyle you want to create.

That's what Rural Adjacent @ The Metro Homestead is all about.

Better Harvests Begin Before You Pick. The Best Gardens Begin After You Harvest.

Before Harvest

Ocean's Energy Concentrate
About 7–10 days before harvest, mix Ocean's Energy Concentrate according to the label directions and apply around the base of your vegetable plants or as a foliar spray. The naturally occurring ocean minerals help support the plant during its final stage of growth, encouraging larger yields with healthy development, and a strong finish before harvest.

After Harvest

Nature's Energy Concentrate
Within 7–10 days after harvesting, remove spent plants and apply Nature's Energy Concentrate to the garden bed according to the label directions. This compost tea concentrate feeds beneficial soil microbes, replenishes organic activity, and helps restore the soil naturally preparing your garden for the next planting season.

Hybrid Homesteading Where You Are

For years, I believed my dream was to own a homestead. Like so many people, I pictured a quiet front porch overlooking the property, a rocking chair, and cold glass of lemonade on a warm summer afternoon. Heading into the house I would find fresh vegetables from the garden, pantry lined with jars we'd preserved ourselves. Neighbors who knew one another and were a part of our community, life moving at a pace that allowed you to actually enjoy it.

Correlation or Causation?

Over the past 70 years, we've witnessed an extraordinary rise in obesity, Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and the incidence of many cancers. During that very same period, our food system underwent one of the most dramatic transformations in human history. Processed foods became a staple of the American diet. Added sugars and artificial ingredients became commonplace. Traditional foods were increasingly replaced by products designed for convenience and shelf life. Government dietary recommendations evolved, culminating in the Food Pyramid that shaped how generations of Americans were taught to eat - the wrong way.

Does this prove that one caused the other? No.

But when two trends move together for decades, doesn't that make you curious? Isn't that exactly the kind of question we should be willing to explore? History is full of discoveries that began because someone had the courage to question what everyone else accepted as settled.

At Rural Adjacent @ The Metro Homestead, we're not interested in telling you what to believe. We're interested in encouraging something that has become surprisingly rare: independent thinking. Read the research. Ask difficult questions. Challenge your own assumptions. Follow the evidence wherever it leads.

Maybe the greatest threat to our health isn't simply what we're eating.

Maybe it's that we've stopped asking why.

What if we've been growing food backwards?

We've spent decades pouring synthetic fertilizers on plants while the soil beneath them slowly dies.

• Dead soil
• Weaker plants
• Food with fewer nutrients

Nature never intended it to work that way.
Healthy soil is alive—with microbes, fungi, minerals, and biology all working together to feed your plants naturally.

🌊 Ocean's Energy restores the mineral foundation.
🌿 Nature's Energy restores the living biology.

Together they help create the kind of soil that grows healthier plants, richer harvests, and better food for the people you love.

Don't just feed your plants. Feed the life beneath them.

We're Tim and Niqui, and we want to personally welcome you to Rural Adjacent @ The Metro Homestead.

For years, we've shared a passion for the land, for learning, for serving others, and for creating a life centered around things that truly matter. Along the way, we've come to believe that many people are searching for something similar, a deeper connection to their food, their families, their communities, and the world around them.
