Version 10.1 adds SEVENTEEN new modules! One of our biggest requests has been to separate Crowns based on the reason for treatment. Now, there are three separate sets of crown modules: cracked tooth, broken tooth, and large decay. We also have added Gingival Allograft. I find dentists fall into one of three categories with regard to case acceptance:

The first group says they have amazing case acceptance. But often this is because they're just not doing comprehensive exams. They're only mentioning the things that are easy, well covered by insurance, etc. They're not talking about the items they might hear "no" to. In essence, they're anticipating the answer no, so they're not asking the question.

The second group has terrible case acceptance. It's too low. They feel like they're doing everything right, but patients are just saying no or "I've got to think about it" way too often.

The third category is doctors that simply don't know.

When patients say no, who do we blame?

Are you losing patients after treatment planning? Here's why it's not about the money.

What I used to do in my office was a really good treatment plan. I'd show patients all the x-rays and photos. Then I'd send them to the front desk where that person would go over the treatment plan, but it was basically a discussion of money.

So my discussion was technical dental stuff they never really wanted to learn in the first place. And her discussion was math.

Here's the problem: They don't really get the dental stuff, but they DO understand the math. So they started relating the cost to other things in their life. A vacation. A new car. A new phone.
And sometimes dentistry would take a backseat because they never really understood the value and importance of it.

Even though we know as doctors that they NEED this dentistry, it's not cosmetic or elective, it's something to actually improve their health that's going to get worse later, they weren't doing it.

Don't just blame it on the patient and think that maybe they just can't afford it. Think about your presentation and how you can change it.
