Ten years of hosting taught us the difference: good pillows, a duvet that doesn’t feel like an afterthought, a mattress you’d actually want to sleep on (we only use Saatva in our homes). Then the details that make a stay memorable, fire features, water features, the stuff guests photograph without meaning to.

Before CleanHaus, Nat (our CEO) ran his own portfolio as a Portland Superhost on . The lesson that stuck with him: the properties that stayed profitable weren't the ones with the best decor.

They were the ones with the most systems creating a repeatable turnover process.

Good design gets you booked. Systems and operations keep you profitable. Most STR advice online is about the first one. Almost none of it is about the second.

CleanHaus didn’t start with a business plan. It started with Nat watching his wife Nadja drown in the day-to-day of running their rentals; the endless texts to cleaners, the “are we running low on paper towels” guessing games, chasing down cleaners for payment, the mental load of managing a home you’re not standing in.

There had to be a better way to do this. There wasn’t. So we built one.
