A client called me a few weeks back just to say the phone had actually been ringing. Not a big dramatic thing — just relieved, a little surprised, genuinely happy.

That call is the whole reason I do this on a Sunday instead of just resting. Rankings and categories and review counts sound dry on their own, but what they actually add up to is someone's slow month turning into a normal one, or a normal month turning into a busy one.

I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing that kind of call.

A lot of us check our personal messages within minutes but let Google reviews sit untouched for weeks. Worth flipping that habit around this weekend.

A review is one of the few moments a customer is actively telling you, and everyone else looking, what they think. Letting it sit unanswered for a month says something too, even when the review itself is glowing.

Doesn't need to be a whole process. Set a reminder for Saturday mornings, spend ten minutes catching up on anything new, and keep moving. Treat it like checking the mail — a small habit, not a project.

Your future customers are reading those replies just as much as the reviews themselves.

You can run the best business on the Treasure Coast and still lose to someone who just updates their Google listing more often.

That's the part nobody tells you starting out — quality gets you a great reputation among the people who already found you. It does almost nothing for the people who haven't found you yet. That part runs on a completely different set of rules.

Doesn't feel fair. It's just how it works right now.

If you've ever felt that disconnect, you're not imagining it. Let me know in the comments.

See this headline? That's the H1 — the main heading on the page. And that quote button? That's a CTA, or call to action.

Here's a quick look at how we use both on our own website to help visitors understand what we do and how to get in touch.

Here's an uncomfortable one: right now, a stranger could be answering questions about your business on Google, and you'd have no idea unless you went looking.

The Q&A section on your Google Business Profile is open to anyone — not just you. A random visitor can post a question, and another random person can answer it, confidently and incorrectly, and that wrong answer just sits there in front of every future customer.

Two-minute check:
1. Search your business on Google and open the Q&A section
2. Read through what's actually there
3. Correct anything wrong, and answer anything unanswered yourself

Most owners have never once looked at this section. It's worth the two minutes just to know what's actually being said about you.

Most sales aren't lost on the first contact. They're lost on the second one that never happens.

Someone reaches out, gets a reply, says "let me think about it" — and then nobody follows up. Not because the business doesn't care, just because life gets busy and it falls through the cracks. Multiply that by every lead over a year and it adds up to real revenue walking away quietly.

Business automation handles that follow-up for you. A friendly check-in a few days later, a reminder before an appointment, a nudge to the people who went quiet — all without you having to remember to do it on top of everything else running your business.

It's not about replacing a personal touch. It's about making sure a good lead never just disappears because everyone got busy.

A local auto repair shop on the Treasure Coast had a loyal customer base built over 15 years, but almost nobody new was finding them online.

The problem: their Google Business Profile listed the wrong primary category (a generic "auto parts store" instead of "auto repair shop"), had 8-year-old photos, and only 14 reviews total.

What we fixed: corrected the category, added current photos of the shop and team, and rolled out a simple review request texted to every customer after pickup.

The result: in about 80 days, they went from essentially invisible on Google Maps to a consistent top 3 for "auto repair near me." Reviews climbed from 14 to 61. They reported booking out close to two weeks in advance for the first time.

Same mechanics, same shop. Just finally showing up where people were already looking.

DM "RESULTS" and I'll show you what this could look like for your business.

Think about the last five questions a customer asked you on the phone before booking. Your website is probably missing all of them.

An FAQ section sounds basic, but it does real work: it answers the exact questions people are typing into Google before they even reach your site, and it gives you a natural place to use the words your customers actually search — not marketing language, their language.

Quick version:
1. Write down the 5-8 questions you answer most often by phone or in person
2. Add them as a simple FAQ section on your homepage or a dedicated page
3. Answer each one the way you'd actually talk to a customer, no corporate tone

It's one of the easiest pages to build and one of the most overlooked for local search.

If you've put in years building something good and it still feels like nobody knows you exist, I want to say this plainly: that's not a reflection of your work.

Being great at your craft and being easy to find online are two completely different skills, and almost nobody is naturally good at both. The business owners I talk to who feel invisible are almost always excellent at the thing they do — they just never had a reason to learn how Google decides who shows up first.

That part's learnable. It's not talent, it's just a system, and systems can be built.

You're not behind. You just haven't gotten to this part yet.

Word of mouth has always worked on the Treasure Coast. The only thing that's changed is where it happens now.

When a neighbor used to recommend you at the grocery store, that was it — the whole referral. Now, that same neighbor tells someone "oh yeah, they're great," and the very next thing that person does is pull out their phone and check Google. If what they find there doesn't match what they just heard, the recommendation dies right there.

So the two actually work together: word of mouth gets someone curious, your online reviews either confirm it or kill it. That's why asking happy customers for a quick Google review matters as much as doing great work in the first place.

One doesn't replace the other anymore. They both have to hold up.
