Pay Attention: AI Agents Are Changing Cybersecurity

AI is no longer limited to answering questions.

New AI agents can increasingly access applications, use tools, retrieve information, interact with business systems, and take actions on behalf of people.

That creates an important cybersecurity question:

What should we actually allow AI to do?

IBM is developing technology designed to give AI agents their own identities, limit their permissions, protect their credentials, monitor their activity, and create an audit trail of what they do.

IBM is also working with NVIDIA on additional security controls designed to keep AI agents inside defined boundaries.
Why does this matter?

Imagine giving an AI access to your email, website, customer records, analytics, cloud storage, financial applications, or internal systems.

It is no longer enough to ask whether the AI is intelligent.

Businesses also need to know whether it is authorized.

⚠️ YOUR WEBSITE DOESN'T HAVE TO BE DIRECTLY HACKED TO BE COMPROMISED.

One of the cybersecurity threats I'm watching right now is happening inside the software supply chain.

The Shai-Hulud npm worm has resurfaced.

Security researchers discovered malicious npm packages carrying the same previously identified malware payload after it had been dormant for 111 days.

Why does this matter?

Modern websites and applications depend on third-party packages developers install every day. If attackers compromise one of those trusted packages, malicious code can potentially enter development environments, steal credentials and spread further through the software ecosystem.

And here's the part that caught my attention:

Researchers reported that this previously identified payload appeared on npm even after newer publish-time malware scanning had been introduced.

This is an important reminder for developers and businesses:

🔐 Trusted repositories are not the same as trusted code.

🔐 Software dependencies need to be monitored.

🔐 Developer credentials and CI/CD systems need the same protection as production servers.

🔐 Automatically installing the newest dependency isn't always the safest choice.

Can you really tell the difference between content written by AI and content written by a human?

That question has been on my mind lately.

We see AI-generated images, videos, articles, captions, and posts everywhere now. People are trying to spot the signs: strange wording, perfect sentences, odd images, or content that feels “too polished.”

But AI is getting better, and those signs are not always easy to catch anymore.

So I tried something.

I created one article using AI, then rewrote the same article in a more human voice.

The difference was not just in the words. It was in the perspective.

The AI version was organized and informative.

The human version had more judgment, emotion, concern, and meaning.

That made me think about a bigger issue:

The problem is not using AI.

The problem is publishing AI content without checking it, editing it, questioning it, or adding your own voice.

AI can help create content, but humans still need to create trust.

Before we post, publish, or share, we should ask:

Is this true?
Is this useful?
Did I verify it?
Does this sound like me?
Would I stand behind it?

AI can write words.

Humans still need to bring the meaning.
