Dolly Parton read at least 50 books a year, and her favorites were exactly what you’d expect: sweeping classics, historical fiction, and southern stories filled with heart and soul. Her must-reads included Water for Elephants, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Grapes of Wrath, Oral History, Black Mountain Breakdown, and Big Stone Gap. She preferred real books over e-readers, and said that if she were stranded on a desert island, she’d bring the Bible “in case she needed to do some crammin’.” Which Dolly-approved book are you adding to your TBR?
