Your backup NAS is 30 miles away. You’re at home. And suddenly, you need to access it.

Driving across town might be the first solution that comes to mind. But your NAS doesn’t actually need you standing next to it.

This week’s shows how to remotely access and manage multiple QNAP devices with myQNAPcloud, plus how SmartURL makes getting back to your NAS as simple as opening a web address.

Your NAS doesn’t always have to be in the same room, building, or even city. As your setup grows across locations, knowing how to reach each device remotely becomes part of managing it.

So, how far does your setup go?

You’ve seen the Oscars. But have you seen what’s behind the screen? 🎬

From ingesting massive digital cinema files to getting them ready for screenings, there’s a lot happening before the lights go down. For the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, that once meant receiving films on physical drives and manually moving them between theaters. Now, the QNAP TS-h1290FX brings those files into one centralized workflow, giving projectionists and editors faster access while streamlining how content moves from theater to theater.

From ingest to the big screen, see what happens behind the scenes.

Scott still hasn't paid us. So we're making it everyone's problem.

Six months we've been chasing this guy.

We did everything he asked. Still nothing.

What happens to the media we leave behind?

Mark O’Brien of Uncommon Ephemera is preserving a piece of history most people have forgotten: vintage filmstrips. 🎞️

With 1,300+ filmstrips already digitized and thousands more waiting, Mark needed infrastructure that could grow with the archive. See how the QNAP TS-855eU gave him the performance and flexibility to keep everything moving, from storage and large-file access to the custom services powering the project.

If I had to start my storage setup again from zero, here’s what I’d do differently. 👇

Instead of adding another external drive every time I run out of space or upgrading my cloud plan month after month, I’d start with storage I can expand as I need it.

With a NAS, your files live in one central place that you can access remotely and share across multiple users and devices. And backups? Set a schedule and let your NAS handle them automatically.

No carrying drives around. No files scattered across five different places. No required monthly storage fees.

And if you’re a student or educator, you can save 15% on select QNAP NAS models through our education program. 🎓

“What’s the default admin password?” “HELP, I’m locked out of my QNAP NAS.” “How do I reset my QNAP NAS?”

We’ve seen it all. 😅 Whether it’s been months since your last login or your password just isn’t password-ing, getting locked out doesn’t mean you’re out of options.

This week’s walks you through a basic system reset, how to find your default admin password, and where to look for the Cloud Key or MAC address you’ll need to get back in.

📌 Once you’re back in, don’t forget to change the default admin password to a new, strong password.

Save this one. Future you might need it. 🔁

You can’t reshoot history. 📸

After decades behind the camera and 9 Olympic Games, Jeff Cable has built an archive of more than 4 million photos. Keeping that much work protected doesn’t require a complicated setup.

Jeff uses HBS 3 to automatically sync his primary QNAP NAS to a second NAS off-site every morning, keeping another copy of his entire archive in a separate physical location.

• 4+ million photos across two locations
• 100TB of storage at each site
• Automated remote sync every morning
• Backup, recovery, and sync with HBS 3

Your archive might not have 4 million photos, but the work you can’t recreate deserves a backup plan.

See how Jeff protects decades of photography. Full story at the link in bio.

The 3-2-1 backup rule has been a standard for years. But with ransomware increasingly targeting backups themselves, today’s strategy needs another layer of protection.

That’s where the 3-2-1-1-0 Backup Rule comes in.

It builds on 3-2-1 with two additional safeguards: an offline or immutable copy and backup verification with zero errors.

Build Your Backup Strategy in 3 Steps

1. Back up your devices to your NAS
Centralize backups from your computers and other devices.

2. Send a backup copy off-site
Schedule backups to another NAS or cloud storage, with regular integrity checks.

3. Keep one backup offline or air-gapped
Isolate a backup copy from your network to help protect it from ransomware and other threats.
