We finally made it home late last night. We didn’t walk away with any competitive event awards this time, but I don’t think any of our students are discouraged by that. Instead, they recognize that they had the opportunity to compete against the best of the best in the country and the world and they are just happy to have had the experience.

We did receive an award for our contribution to the American Cancer Society. Because we raised over $2,000, we received the Purple Award, which is the highest achievement for the TSA National Service Project.

Before we left the hotel, we also presented Mr. Turner with a poster full of memories to commemorate his career and thank him for all he has done for us and Lakeside students in general. We are so grateful for both of the Turners for joining us on this trip and helping out wherever they could.

That’s a wrap for TSA for the 2024-2025 school year. We have had an incredible year and we are so greatful for all of those that have supported our fundraising efforts and cheered us on.

I’d like to give an extra special thanks to the Coeur d’Alene Tribe Department of Education for making a substantial financial contribution to our trip. Because of this, we were able to truly maximize our experience without worry of budget restraints.

Our TSA chapter next year will look a little different with a new advisor, but with the help of Mrs. Green, our incredible TSA State Treasurer, Paola Lozon, and all of our current members that join again next school year, the organization will continue thrive and offer more opportunities for Lakeside students.

We hope to have more students join TSA next year! Thanks again to everyone for all the support this year! ♥️💙🤍

We didn’t have too much to do for competitions today. We went to the opening business meeting and then had pretty much the rest of the day free. We spent some time at the mall. Mrs. Green and the Turners all got new boots! We ate lunch and shopped around for a little while before heading back to the hotel. In the afternoon, students spent some time at the hotel waterpark. We’re finally getting to bed at a decent time tonight. All of us are running on very little sleep at this point! We’re headed home tomorrow.

Another day full of activities. We started off with a general session and a couple events. At the general session is when our chapter was recognized for our fundraising efforts for the American Cancer Society national service project. Once all TSA events were completed, we went back to downtown Nashville for lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe. We also walked around downtown, to the pedestrian bridge to see the city and the Cumberland River. We then went and got ice cream and check out some boots at a boot store.

After we left downtown Nashville, our entire chapter went to a show at the Grand Ole Opry. It was an incredible experience and the students all had an amazing time.

We saw T. Graham Brown, Jake Hoot, Twitty & Lynn, the Steeldrivers, Jamie O’Neal, Brian Bates (comedian), Eric Pasley, and Riders in the Sky!

We finished off the night eating 100 wings, 30 tenders, and too many orders of fries from Wing Stop on the hotel lobby floor.

Lots of memories made today. We have one and a half days left in Nashville.

Today was a jam packed day of competitions and sessions. We started our morning at the opening session. There are 9,500 attendees at this conference from all over the WORLD (not just the USA)! We spent all day competing in various events. I didnt get as many pictures today because we were running around (literally) so much. Some students didn’t have a lot of events today, so the Turners took them to the mall. Paola had some state officer exclusive events too. Some students also checked out the pool. We had lots of mishaps today, but it was a great learning experience all around. We will look back and laugh at these moments.

We ended our very busy day trying new things. We went to a restaurant where students tried alligator, frog legs, catfish, hush puppies, fried twinkies, and more. We even spotted some fireflies! ♥️

Today we went on to Hatch Show Print for a short lesson on their history and how to print with a letterpress. The type and print nerd in me was so excited! They all got to print their own souvenir poster to keep. Hatch Show Print is famous for using old fashioned letter presses to print iconic posters, especially for shows around Nashville since 1879.
