The phone's been ringing with owners who just fired their SEO guy and want us to fix it.

August traffic dip. They were promised a weekend bounce back. Google already said recovery takes months after you do the work. A crash in a few days is not a file you upload on Saturday.

Google is putting public Facebook Groups in search now.

Someone Googles a local question, and they may see a Group post next to the websites. Reddit still shows up more. Public Facebook Groups are next. They do not even need to be logged into Facebook to see it.

What that means for SEO: Google is treating those Group posts like answers. For some searches, the click can go to a Group instead of your site. That is not a ranking penalty. That is another listing on the page. Private Groups do not show. A brand-new Group with no members will not get you in Google.

What to do: find the public Groups Google already shows for your kind of work in Broward, Miami-Dade, or Palm Beach. Be in those. Answer like a person. Do not drop a flyer. If you run a Group, keep the useful posts public if you want them to have a shot at search. Keep doing the site work. The Group gets you seen. The website is still what turns that into a customer.

Google is moving the local ads with the Google Guaranteed badge into regular Google Ads.

If you run plumbing, HVAC, electrical, cleaning, lawn, roofing, pest, or moving in Broward, Miami-Dade, or Palm Beach, this can hit this month.

Your ads still show on Search and Maps. You still pay per lead. The dashboard is what changes.

Your old reports do not come with you. Export them before Google flips the account. They email you about 14 days out.

Google changed how clicks work this week.

Someone Googles you, clicks your result, and it used to go straight to your site. Now it goes through Google first, then to you.

That is not a penalty. That is not the spam update. That is Google making it harder for scrapers and AI bots to copy the search results.

If Search Console looks normal, you did not lose rankings overnight. If a rank tracker is having a meltdown, believe Search Console.

Someone asked Google this week if you can ignore “GEO” and just do SEO.

John Mueller, Google’s Search Advocate (the person who explains how Search actually works), said there’s nothing special you need to do for AI answers in search.

Those answers come from the same results your customers already see. If they can’t find you for plumber Boca or AC repair Plantation, the AI box isn’t going to find you either.

A new acronym won’t bring the job back. A site that actually ranks might.
