PSImetals PCF approach tracks the material and energy consumptions for each individual piece of product (e.g. a coil), along the various production steps and calculates the corresponding CO2 equivalent emissions using appropriate cost factors. Lump sum contributions (e.g. from idle and preparation times at a production line) can be taken into account as average values evaluated from historical data. All the contributions from each production step including lump sum parts are summed up to the final PCF value of the piece of product delivered to the customer.
