Two exciting technical talks today at the first ever Hadoop Users Group Pittsburgh meeting: (1) Hadoop Performance Tuning -- Milind Bhandarkar, Yahoo! (2) Exploring HDFS: Comparisons to Parallel File Systems, and RAID in HDFS -- Wittawat Tantisiriroj, Bin Fan and Lin Xiao

First HUG meeting on September 28, 2009 evening. Milind Bhandarkar of Yahoo! will be giving a talk on "Hadoop Performance Tuning". Details (location, time) to be announced. Milind Bhandarkar has a PhD in Computer Science and has involved in parallel programming for the last 20 years. He has been one of the early contributors to Hadoop, and currently leads the Grid Solutions team at Yahoo!.
