Vote for Creative Studio (Project #35)!

This creative Studio reconsiders what makes being together worthwhile. The transformation opens and connects a former bank, creates a choice-rich workplace for different ways of working, and establishes a flexible framework that continues to evolve as the team learns from the space itself.

While the jury reviews this year’s outstanding submissions for AIA Design Pittsburgh 2026, the People’s Choice Award is in your hands.

Vote for 5th & Halket (Project #11)!

Fifth & Halket transforms a busy corner of Pitt's urban campus into a welcoming vertical hub with expanded sidewalks, retail, and public art. The covered entry plaza reclaims a once-hostile corner, making room for people along Fifth Avenue and creating opportunities for gathering, learning, and connection.

Today’s exciting groundbreaking at 933 Penn Ave. marks the conversion of this former 8-story trade school and office building. This effort is part of a larger public-private strategic plan to rejuvenate downtown Pittsburgh.

Strada is working with Rugby Realty, Walnut Capital, Desmone, and builder PJ Dick to convert this new residential property that will offer 10% of its apartments at rents that meet standards of affordability.

One of the six redevelopment projects that were outlined by Gov. Josh Shapiro two years ago, construction is anticipated to complete in 2028.

Architecture is at its best when it brings people together. The Christian Brothers Residence at La Salle University was designed around community with a central Great Hall for gathering, dining, and daily life, and a landscaped courtyard creating a quieter space for reflection and worship.

A few details we love: vaulted ceilings, exposed wood trusses, a small chapel tucked into the courtyard, and a simple palette of stucco and wood siding that reflects the Brothers’ unpretentious aesthetic.
