We specialize in communications for higher education, philanthropy, community building institutions, and arts and cultural organizations. Our firm, with offices in Pittsburgh and New York City, was founded in 1982. In 1999, we converted an industrial building on Pittsburgh’s South Side into a warm and unexpected design office. In 2008, we established our New York office in a 150-year-old loft building in Brooklyn’s Dumbo neighborhood, half a block from the Manhattan Bridge.

Big news to conclude 2025!

January will see a leadership transition at Landesberg Design. Michael Artman will become the third president in our history, succeeding Brian Bronaugh, who acquired the firm following Rick Landesberg’s retirement in 2017.

Michael, currently Associate Creative Director, has been deeply committed to the firms mission and success since 2014, and has led award-winning projects for August Wilson African American Cultural Center, City Theatre, Phillips Academy, Rice University, University of Pittsburgh, and Wheeling Symphony Orchestra, among others.

Brian will continue with Landesberg Design in an advisory role, while beginning in a new position at Pressley Ridge, a national nonprofit that helps children and families overcome life’s challenges through trauma-informed care.

Read the announcement from Pittsburgh Business Times in our bio.

We’re looking forward to the exciting work ahead in 2026!

Great discussion last night on “What is Pittsburgh’s Brand?” Thanks to everybody who attended and especially to our panelists: Kendra Janelle Ross, PhD, Christine Waller, Matt Singer, Tracy Certo, Mary W Murrin, and Donald Marinelli.

Shout out also to our partners in Grapevine, Steven Frank (who moderated the evening) from Thoughtform, George Potts, John Craig, and Billy Jo Molinari from Fifth Influence, Pete Popivchak, Larkin Werner, and Doug Dean from Wall-to-Wall and lastly, Brian Bronaugh Sam Colavecchio and Piper Olsen from Landesberg. These firms started Grapevine about two years ago to rekindle connections in the design/creative community while facilitating informal networking opportunities combined with discussion about key topics in our industry. Last night was our first real foray into a more formal event and it showed us we need to keep these discussions going. We will be looking to continue the dialogue started last night about this city’s brand in the spring and will work to include more diverse perspectives which we hope to develop into strategic implementations. Hope to see you in the Spring.

Every city has a story. What’s Pittsburgh’s?

The Grapevine Design Collective is hosting What is  Pittsburgh’s Brand? We’ll gather designers, business and civic leaders, and community voices for a candid conversation exploring how our city’s identity is shaped, shared, and understood— and how that story could be told.

To register for this free event plus see who is on the panel, please visit our Eventbrite page (link in bio). Seating is limited so register soon.
