With a very heavy heart our office will be closed Friday, February 27 as we mourn the passing of Ross Babbitt. We take comfort in knowing that God’s promises bring peace beyond understanding and that his life and leadership were a true blessing to all who knew him.

We appreciate your prayers and understanding as we take this time to honor and remember a life well lived.

Ross McCall Babbitt, age 85, of Pineville, Missouri, a cherished pillar of McDonald County, departed this life peacefully on Sunday afternoon, February 22, 2026, after a courageous battle with Parkinsons Disease and Dementia. Fifteen years ago, McDonald County Telephone launched its fiber-to-the-home project, proactively and steadily replacing traditional copper service with cutting-edge fiber-optic technology. Since then, the company has installed approximately 600 miles of fiber-optic cable-cutting and boring through layers of Ozark limestone and choosing to bury cable in areas where installing it on poles would have been far cheaper and easier. This long-term investment ensures that our customers in Anderson, Pineville, and Jane receive Internet service that is exceptionally reliable and far less vulnerable to the unpredictable Midwest weather.

Yesterday we cut over our final customer from copper to fiber, Calvin Idell, of Crosspoint Plumbing!!!!

Thanks to our incredible buried crews, installers, and splicers for their outstanding work.
Through blistering heat and freezing cold, they continued to push forward with dedication and grit. And most importantly, thank you to our customers. Your patience and loyalty to a humble local provider made it possible for us to build a fiber network that even our more
"metropolitan" neighbors envy.
