Another day in the office. We've been spending a lot of our time the shop lately talking to internet wholesale providers who might be able to get us a Fiber Optic backhaul. Why? So that the great people of McDonald County might finally have a GOOD choice for internet service! We're trying to find a way to bring ya'll speeds of up to 400Mbps with an end goal of supplying 1Gbps internet to the unincorporated parts of southern McDonald County! This isn't to say that it's for sure going to happen, but the more we look into it the more excited we get about the potential.

We're excited to have a new addition to the shop! A Dell PowerEdge R900! This thing was the cream of the crop some time ago.. Like 10, 12 years ago? Don't mind the age too much though, as it's still more than powerful enough today to handle all of our virtual machine needs for our in-house network and network attached storage. How could it still be so powerful? well I'll tell you!

This particular R900 has four Xeon quad core processors operating at 2.08Ghz on all 16 cores, 128GB of ECC RAM, and four gigabit ethernet ports! Though we do plan on upgrading the networking capabilities with a 10Gbps SFP+ card for fiber optic communication with our network.

Just thought we'd share incase anyone else gets excited about this type of stuff.
