Check out how Storage Authority delivers a “high-tech, high-touch” operation across its facilities in our latest success story: https://opentechalliance.com/blog/storage-authority-supports-self-storage-franchise-owners/

Storage Authority doesn’t view technology as a replacement for personal service. Instead they use INSOMNIAC kiosks, INSOMNIAC CIA access control, and the IoE Control Center to take care of routine tasks so managers can spend more time supporting customers.

75 break-ins in three months. That's what Stor365's rural Lima, Ohio facility was facing before INSOMNIAC® SmartEye came in. That number has dropped significantly since.

Our 2026 Self Storage White Paper shows why timing is everything. Nearly half of all incidents happen in just two hours, 10 and 11 p.m., right when most facilities go unstaffed for the night and exactly when our Virtual Security Team steps in. Coverage now scales to fit anything from a single lot to a multi-facility portfolio.

🔊 Sound on for this one! Renters in urban self storage facilities are more than twice as likely to report a break-in than renters in suburban facilities, and nearly double the rate reported in rural ones.

Not every property faces the same level of risk, so it doesn't make sense for every property to get the same level of coverage. That's why INSOMNIAC® SmartEye comes in three tiers, each built for a different scale of risk.

See which tier matches your footprint: https://opentechalliance.com/solutions/insomniac-smarteye-security-monitoring/

Still smiling about the conversations from FEDESSA 2026 in Wiesbaden last week. It was great catching up with operators and partners from across the European self storage community, and a real highlight touring the Shurgard Self-Storage property with the team.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, share a story, or just chat over coffee. Those moments are what stick with us long after the trade show floor empties out.

15 years in self storage, and Mats Affleck has seen a lot.

We got to catch up with him at Self Storage Association Fall this year and hear his story, including how Shari and the OpenTech team have become more like family than vendors over the years.

Thank you for trusting us with your operations, Mats. Here's to growing together!

They say pink goes good (well) with green. Turns out blue does too! Universal Insurance showed up in full green when they visited the OpenTech Alliance Experience Center here in Phoenix, and it just confirms what we already know: we make a solid pair. As one of our insurance partners for SmartEye, UIP helps bring added protection to our customers, and we loved having their team here in person.
