This page is home to essays and ramblings on subjects ranging from biotech to politics, current events, economics, information science, personal computing, copyright, futurism, Transhumanism, literature, among others, including the occasional pony. The page was founded as a personal page on a short set of principles that I and my coadmins stick to to this day.
• That I wouldn't spam this page
with the kind of offensive, super edgy, low-effort content that was the standard for Community pages when I admined Satan.
• That like the essays I've written, I wouldn't dilute the subject of discussion into meaninglessness and that I'd do my best to avoid falling into the 140 characters trend of shortening every story into a quick digestible blurb which is easier for the lowest common denominator to quickly read and like.
• That I would not use the standard "like+share" spam which commercial pages use to maximize their edgerank by spamming people's feeds with inane, deceptive, and manipulative crap.
• That the content I did post in between my own work was content I felt was relevant to the nature and direction of the page. Among the major themes of this page is Transhumanism [http://www.fb.com/notes/quin/transhumanism-a-not-so-brief-primer/289981944443731], The philosophical position that Humans not only ought to survive, but that we should use our ingenuity and technology to eliminate all barriers to our will and enable each person to do whatever their goal is through the application of technology to solve problems like Aging, disease, Mortality, inability to survive in space, government, economics, and all other problems. I also publish material related to Technocopianism [http://www.fb.com/notes/quin/technocopianism-cell-based-model-for-social-organisation/295406430567949], a social-economic-governmental system I'm currently developing as a tactic to cope with the rapid development of technology and the continual destabilisation of capitalism and Ancient economies. Technocopianism seeks to fulfil the following 10 Goals through application of technology and sustainable expansion of energy capture.
1: That the system could actually be implemented in piecemeal so that a gradual phasing in could occur (this is not something that could ever be implemented all at once by revolution or executive mandate)
2: That the end result has no Systemic hierarchies of power in Government.
3: That the end result has no Systemic hierarchies of power in economy.
4: That an individual is free to pursue their own goals so long as those goals do not stop another from doing what they want to do.
5: That All Labour is either converted to ludic activity [productive playing] or automated by machines and computers
6: That no person [in the end system] should be required to work in order to partake in the bounty of the society
7: That the people of each cell have a great degree of freedom in how they choose to organise locally [which is kept in balance by the meta-cell they are part of, so you don't end up with a small cell deciding it's okay to murder people for their bone marrow, even if 70% of the population want it]
8: That every member of the society be able to very easily and conveniently participate in the system in an effective framework for direct democratic administration and self-governance.
9: That the net result of implementation would not lower the median Human development index or its derivative of a society compared to pre-implementation.
10: That the net result of implementation would not lower the social development index of a society compared to pre-implementation
Finally, I will occasionally post things related to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic from time to time.
