We are back to building towers, this time in Florida

A 155 ft monopine is going up on some of the softest sugar sand we have ever worked in, and the near daily storms did us no favors either. The usual drilled pier was not going to happen here, so we went with a two stage pad and caisson instead.

Between storms, the crew cleared the corridor, set silt fence, trenched in power and telco, and set the handholes along the run. Rebar mat is tied and ready for inspection, concrete is right behind it.

Soon a pine tree will stand above the oaks, and most folks will never guess it's a tower 🌲

250 years ago, a few people signed their names to an idea nobody had tried before 🇺🇸

Today that idea turns a quarter of a millennium old. Two and a half centuries of freedom, grit, and never being finished.

Here's to America at 250, and to everyone who makes it what it is.

Last time we showed you a foundation and a pile of anchor bolts, and here's that same site now with a 95-foot monopole standing where there was nothing but trees and red clay a few months ago.

After the pad cured we graded and graveled the compound, set the chain link fence, and finished the access road so we could get the steel in and stack it. A few small items left to close out, but the hard part is done.

RAN Upgrade in the Massachusetts Wilderness 🏔️

Hard not to stop and appreciate the view when your office is 120 feet up. This site sits close enough to an airport that the tower has to be painted in FAA aviation colors. That means every piece of new equipment we install has to match. Radio swaps, new fiber, and a fresh coat of paint before we called it done. Another site in the books for the Black Tower Group team.

Phase 1 Complete. New 95-foot Monopole Build in Virginia 🏗️

Greenfield site in Nelson County, VA. When we showed up there was nothing here but trees and red Virginia clay. We cleared the land, cut a 650-foot access road just to get equipment on site, and started digging.

Excavated the pad, laid the rebar mat, set the pier cage, and brought in a concrete pump to pour the foundation. Anchor bolts are set, concrete is cured. While the pad was curing the crew moved straight to utilities. Conduit trenched and in the ground, H-frame installed, meter enclosure mounted.

MattArm Training Complete 🔧

Our team just wrapped up hands-on training for the MattArm, a mechanical arm hoist system used to lift materials and equipment up tower.

The system was set up to simulate a real-world scenario, giving the crew real reps on setup, load rigging, and safe operation before it goes live on any project.
