We’re delighted to announce that Matthew Powell has recently accepted the role of Area Manager in Boise, Idaho!

Since initially joining ELM Utility Services in 2019 as a Locate Technician, Matthew has steadily advanced through the company, becoming Lead Technician in 2024, followed by Supervisor later that year.

In Matthew’s new role, he looks forward to developing his team’s skills, fostering accountability, and bringing fresh insight from his prior experience of working in a different area.

Congratulations to Dustin Buyes, our new Supervisor in Seattle, Washington!

Since joining ELM Utility Services in December 2024, Dustin has made the most of every opportunity to learn and grow. He started in the field as a Locate Technician, advanced to Trouble Technician, and was then promoted to Lead Technician, gaining experience along the way.

For Dustin, this promotion is recognition of his hard work and a chance to keep growing as a leader. In his new role, he's focused on learning the operational side of the business, building his leadership skills, and keeping safety a top priority for his team. His time as a Lead Technician, supporting fellow techs and helping keep daily operations on track, has prepared him well for what's ahead.

We’re excited to announce that Anthony Ortega has recently accepted the role of Area Manger in San Antonio, Texas!

Anthony began his journey with ELM Utility Services in March of 2024, as a Locate Technician. Throughout his time with ELM, he has supported multiple areas, worked with different teams, and taken on more responsibility. His previous experience has provided him with a strong understanding of daily operations, workload management, and customer expectations.

When asked what this promotion means to him, Anthony shared that it represents the hard work, dedication, and growth he has demonstrated since joining ELM.
As he steps into this role, Anthony’s priorities are centered on safety, employee development, accountability, quality, and productivity. He is focused on making sure employees receive necessary training and support while contributing to their professional development.

🏆 Congratulations to our Photo of the Month winner, Tyler Hauwert of Phoenix, Arizona!

During a trouble locate, Tyler noticed that a contractor planned to encase a ¾-inch steel gas service in concrete while pouring fence footings. His sharp eye and attention to detail helped identify the potential hazard before the concrete was poured.

We’re excited to announce that Shane Waganfeald has recently accepted the role of Area Manager in Omaha, Nebraska!

Shane joined ELM Utility Services less than a year ago and has already made a strong impact through his experience, leadership, and commitment to doing the job the right way. Prior to stepping into this role, he served as a Damage Prevention Trainer in Las Vegas, where he worked closely with employees at different experience levels, developed training, coached team members, and supported field operations.

When asked what this promotion means to him, Shane shared that it represents recognition of the hard work, dedication, and growth he has put into his career. He is proud of how quickly he has been able to grow with ELM and is excited about the opportunity to make an even greater impact in his new role.

As Area Manager, Shane is focused on people, safety, quality, and performance. His goal is to ensure employees have the training, resources and leadership they need to succeed while continuing to strengthen production, accountability, and customer relationships.

We’re excited to announce that Alejandro Oliver has recently accepted the role of Supervisor out of Grand Prairie, Texas area!

Alejandro joined ELM Utility Services as a Locate Technician and has continues to grow throughout his career with the company. After spending time in the field, he stepped up to help train and mentor new hires, then advanced into a Senior Technician role. In 2026, Alejandro was promoted to Supervisor.

When asked about his promotion, Alejandro shared that it means his skills are a trusted value. He’s excited to move from hands on technician work into a leadership role focused on safety, field crew efficiency, and damage prevention.

As he steps into this position, Alejandro is most excited about mentoring the next generation of locators and helping raise the standard for the team. Having come up through the field himself, he looks forward to helping technicians grow while tackling new challenges together.

His priorities as Supervisor include maintaining the highest safety and accuracy standards, reviewing tickets, sharing best practices through training, and making sure his technicians feel supported.

We’re excited to see the impact Alejandro will make in his new role and look forward to his continued growth and leadership at ELM.

Every year, St. Jude Rides- Peoria – Peoria takes to the road with one mission: to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and bring hope to families facing their darkest moments.

In 2007, a group of motorcycle enthusiasts, including our very own Jim Bourazak, rode 465 miles from Peoria to Memphis to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude. What started as one ride has grown into an incredible movement - raising more than $13.2 million over the past 20 years.

This year is especially meaningful as St. Jude Rides celebrates its 20th Anniversary.
