Several years ago, while working for Microsoft – I had the privilege of delivering a PowerPoint presentation at the IMAX in Glasgow. The PowerPoint deck was enormous, but I opened a slide with a photograph like this one – depicting the average office in the Mid 80’s, around the time PC’s were appearing on our desks. I asked the audience: “What is wrong with this photograph?” The simple answer was: “The office was clean!”

Back in the 80’s most companies allowed their staff to smoke in the office, leaving a haze in the air, along with yellow staining on every wall. Not to mention you arrived home every evening, stinking of cigarette smoke and as someone who has never smoked – it was very unpleasant.

I believe times have changed for the better! Successive governments around the world banned smoking in public places, including the office. The office got cleaner; our cloths didn’t smell as bad at the end of the day and with the advent of the LCD’s: our desks gained more space.

Rock forward 40 years and we’ve come such a long way. Home and/or Hybrid working has given us so much quality time back to our lives, supported by Cloud Computing and software enabling us to work anywhere these days. on any device. At SP Marketplace, we use our own software in a bid to deliver what our small, global operation needs to be successful. As a result: we believe that we underdressed what most S ME’s also need to be successful too; underpinned by the Microsoft (Office) 365 Platform as a Service.
