I recognize a couple of these folks. Thanks for sponsoring these future leaders in agriculture!
Each year the SC Commissioner’s School for Ag holds a 1-week summer experience in cooperation with Clemson University's College of Agriculture, Forestry & Life Sciences. The program is for rising 11th & 12th graders interested in a career in the agricultural, natural resource and life science industries.
This year we were able to sponsor three Anderson County students. These students attended our August board meeting to share about the fun! Each student can tailor their week towards their interests. Stevie Bell followed the Plant Science pathway, Ellory Keown followed the Livestock pathway, and McKinley Arthur-Banning followed the Department of Natural Resources pathway. All felt this experience was a huge benefit in their education from meeting new people, visiting area farms, and getting hands-on/in-person exposure to agriculture you just can’t get in a classroom.
Great job ladies and thanks for sharing how impactful this week is to students!
