The ladies of our Pella office had a wonderful time experiencing Strawtown Inn and Events with the Pella Women's Network last week. It was inspiring to hear owner Nicolle Picray's journey of reopening the inn. The space is beautiful, and we're excited to see this historic Pella destination begin its next chapter! The MDH Today magazine arrived at western Illinois homes last week. This 24-page McDonough District Hospital publication shares important staff updates and promotes new healthcare services. A landmark settlement has been reached in the much-talked-of Anthropic copyright infringement case. $1.5 billion will be paid out to thousands of authors whose books were used to train the Claude chatbot.

The biggest takeaway from the judge’s ruling for those of us in the book world? It all hinged on the fact that the books in question were pirated. As of now, it appears training chatbots on copyrighted books that have been rightfully purchased or licensed will fall under fair use.

Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín approved the landmark settlement in the class action copyright lawsuit on July 20. Authors and publishers are entitled to receive about $3,000 for each infringed work used to train the AI company’s large language models.

WP Editor Sarah Purdy recently helped develop a standalone article for Yetter Farm Equipment that was featured in the August No-Till Farmer Conservation Tillage Guide. She also collaborated with WP Designer Michelle Stam on a Yetter spread ad featured in the issue. Nicely done, ladies!
