Builds version 1.2.12 is out, and it has some new features we’re proud of:
* Road Trips - share all the cool places you found along your road trip. Others can interact with your photos and notes.
* Spirited Drives - find a new road with some grate curves? Share it with other enthusiasts.

We have a new release coming soon with some exciting features: there is now (finally) a media gallery, and we have added two new activity types: road trips and spirited drives.

The latest version of Builds is out. The big feature in this version is Consumables tracking.

Consumables link to your parts catalog and activities, so you can stay on top of their usage.

We are here checking out Ady’s Racers. It’s an amazing event and a fabulous opportunity for kids and adults with special needs to ride around the track in some pretty nice cars.

I don’t typically post much about application design, but today I’m going to peel back the curtains just a little bit.

When I first started on Builds, the concept of discussions was absolutely core to the app. It’s important for everything to be “discussable” - rides, builds, events, activity log entries, etc. Discussions are the means by which users engage with other users’ content; it’s how users react, comment, share pictures, etc. Equally important - these discussions should be listed on the detail pages for all the app’s types.

But to be honest, sometimes using the discussion system can be wonky. If someone shares a new Spot (or Event, or several other types), one has to create a discussion on it in other to interact with it. So I’ve been working on tweaking it.

It’s a small change and not a new feature, but with the next release users can now interact directly with Group Drives, Spots, Events, and Activity Log entries. I’ve been testing it and personally I think it’s a nice improvement in usability.

Plan drives, invite friends, define your route with multiple waypoints and activities. Or find other drives near you? See a drive passing through your area, join it along the way.

Finally got a Racebox Mini. Perfect timing considering the autox season is now over. I’m excited to be able to use it next season on both the Camaro and the Boss. And I’m also looking forward to seeing what kind of data I can get from it and explore some possible future integration with Builds.

It's been almost two months since my last Builds update. Work has slowed, but definitely not stopped. There have been several releases containing minor bug fixes, and I've been laying the groundwork for some new features.

I am actively working on a Group Drive feature - you will be able to organize drives with friends, and plan routes with multiple waypoints.

Then early next year, I will be releasing new activity types to really lean into the social aspects of the car community. Taking a road trip? Log it and share it. Attending a dyno day? Log it and share it.

And here’s a quick preview of the new Group Drive feature:

Version 1.1.9 will be rolling out over the next few days. This release includes two new features:

Maintenance Log - track maintenance events, orders, and parts for all of your rides.

Car Spotting - share photos of cool or wild cars you spot out in the wild, and plot them on a map. Requires location permissions to be enabled. This feature should be considered a preview; expect improvements/changes baes on feedback.
