Sometimes a bathroom remodel turns into a lot more than new finishes.

Once the tile floor was removed, we started uncovering the real issue underneath. Rotten subfloor, holes, and structural damage meant there was only one correct solution: remove the damaged material and rebuild it the right way.

The new floor system is officially underway, and this bathroom is on its way to being stronger than it was when it was originally built.

A lot of the most important work on a project is the part nobody will ever see when it’s finished.

Most people only see the “boom.”

They don’t see the estimates, material runs, late nights, mistakes, lessons learned, marketing, networking, phone calls, paperwork, and thousands of small decisions that happen before it.

Every project. Every customer. Every lesson. Every day.

Work. Work. Work. Work. Work.

No results.

But a little better.

Then one day people start recognizing the name, seeing the work, sharing your content, referring your business, and trusting you with their projects.

Keep showing up. Keep improving. Keep building.

Both bathroom board and batten wall treatments are officially installed.

One of the things we enjoy most about projects like this is that every wall is different. These panels weren’t simply measured and nailed to the wall. Each section had to be customized around plumbing rough-ins, electrical boxes, drain lines, and other obstacles while still maintaining consistent spacing and a clean layout throughout the room.

To help keep everything square and consistent, the panels were assembled using pocket hole joinery before installation. We also rounded over the exposed top accent corners to soften the edges and eliminate a sharp corner where someone could accidentally bump into it during everyday use.

The goal is always the same: make it look clean, intentional, and like it was meant to be there from day one.

This section may look simple when it’s finished, but there was a lot going on behind the scenes.

This board and batten panel had to be built around two sink water lines, a sink drain, a toilet water line, and an electrical box while still keeping the layout clean, symmetrical, and intentional.

Pre-assembling the panel with pocket hole joinery allows us to control the spacing, keep everything square, and make installation much cleaner once it reaches the wall. A little extra planning on the front end saves a lot of headaches on the back end.

Custom work is rarely about the easy parts. It’s about finding solutions when the wall has other plans.

Yesterday we showed the five obstacles hiding behind this section of wall. Today it’s all coming together.

A clean board and batten install starts long before anything touches the wall. Layout, measurements, spacing, clearances, and assembly all have to be figured out first—especially when you’re working around plumbing lines, electrical boxes, and other obstacles that weren’t part of the original design.

By assembling the panel ahead of time with pocket hole joinery, we can keep everything square, consistent, and ready for installation while maintaining a clean finished appearance once paint goes on.

The details are what make custom work look custom.

Dancing into Friday like…

Life’s going to throw good days and bad days at all of us. Some things we can control. Some things we can’t.

Attitude is one thing we get to choose every single day.

We’ve all got bills, responsibilities, deadlines, and things that don’t go our way. Doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the ride anyway.

Now let’s go attack the day and make it a good one!

Everybody loves the finished product. Nobody talks about everything hiding behind it.

This final section of board and batten has to work around a toilet supply line, an electrical box, two sink water lines, and a sink drain line—all while keeping the layout clean and symmetrical.

The difference between a clean-looking install and one that looks pieced together usually comes down to planning, layout, and taking the time to work through details like these before anything gets nailed to the wall.

All the pieces are cut, pocket holes are drilled, and everything is ready for assembly.

Check back tomorrow to see it all come together.

Rotten fascia and soffit don’t fix themselves.

Water intrusion, age, failed paint, and neglected maintenance can turn a small repair into a much larger problem if left alone for too long. Fortunately, this one was caught before the damage spread any further.

Now the damaged material has been replaced, everything is sealed and painted, and the home is ready for the next step: new gutters.

A lot of homeowners focus on what’s visible from the ground, but fascia, soffit, and gutters work together to protect the structure from water damage year after year.
