THE NEWEST SOCIAL SECURITY SCAM - Another call today from the so-called Social Security office. (First off, you must realize that I TOTALLY enjoy playing with these stupid people.)

So now, if you have the traditional red-white-blue card, it is outdated, and you need to upgrade to the new GOLD card. After determining I had that OLD card, I was asked to get my card and read the information on it and verify the spelling of my name. I told them you have my name and they spelled something I couldn't understand. I then proceeded to tell them that I was not going to read the information on my card and that it would remain safely in my purse. I also stated that if I wanted a new card, I could log into my SS account and do it myself. They proceeded to explain to me that this was the Federal Government calling. I proceeded to explain that they should be ashamed of themselves for trying to scam and steal information from people. They assured me that I was wrong and why I thought this. I said "BECAUSE THE F***ING SS OFFICE DOESN'T CALL PEOPLE YOU IDIOT! If you're going to scam this country at least know the procedures of the business you're imitating. They said,' Sorry you feel this way" and hung up.

PEOPLE BE CAREFUL! NEVER call back the number in an email, letter, or phone message. Login to your bank and call the number there. Login to your SS account or look up the number in the phone book. Do a little research and NEVER EVER (unless you enjoy messin with em) give information to non-English speaking representatives. Always ask for an ON SHORE AGENT or someone who speaks better English. See what you get!

At this time, HIT Industries is still open. We do, however, encourage people to mail payments for any invoices you might owe. We will not charge any late fees for those bills that are owing. If you do have a computer issue and require a service person to visit you, please call first. Many situations can be cured by you, with someone talking you through the situation.

Until our President orders 'complete' shutdown of the country, Payette businesses are still open. We have been disinfecting surfaces and taking precautions not to spread germs. And, like you, trying to keep informed.

SCAM ALERT!! SCAM ALERT!!
I received a call from "social security" (yea right!) saying my current Medicare card will be deactivated and that I was getting a new one with a lot more benefits. SCAM SCAM SCAM -

first of all, they had a very heavy foreign accent.
second, was my birth date (i did give that to see how far this was going to go) to verify who I was.
third, they wanted my Medicare card number (which I said I didn't carry)
then because I didn't have the medicare number they wanted my social security number.

I refused to give my Social Security number which created an argument and an upset operator who simply said, well don't blame me if your Medicare gets cancelled. I said I wouldn't and that someone was at my door and had to leave and that I would call Social Security to confirm his comments. They hung up.

SCAM PEOPLE!!!! Social Security mails information. Be aware! Be safe!

INFORMATION YOU SHOULD KNOW
I received this in my email today and thought it should be passed on. Remember - if you think it's odd (usually scammers don't speak English very well) or unusual it's a SCAM! I actually received a couple of these calls and when you start asking questions, they cannot answer them without money. I told them I would wait for the Police to come get me - they hung up. Be alert.

Protect Yourself from Social Security Scams

Scammers are pretending to be government employees.

Scammers will try to scare you and trick you into giving them your personal information and money. They may threaten you or your family and may demand immediate payment to avoid arrest or other legal action.
DON'T BE FOOLED!

IF YOU RECEIVE A SUSPICIOUS CALL:
1. Hang up!

2. DO NOT give them money or personal
information!

3. Report the scam at OIG.SSA.GOV!

What to look out for

The call or email says there is a problem with your Social Security Number or account.

Someone asking you to pay a fine or debt with retail gift cards, wire transfers, pre-paid debit cards, internet currency, or by mailing cash.

Scammers pretend they’re from Social Security or another government agency. Caller ID or documents sent by email may look official but they are not.

Callers threaten you with arrest or other legal action.

Social Security may call you in some situations but will never:
• Threaten you
• Suspend your Social Security Number
• Demand immediate payment from you
• Require payment by cash, gift card, pre-paid debit card, or wire transfer
• Ask for gift card numbers over the phone or to wire or mail cash
