One door closes, another occasionally sad one opens (my Celebration videos of my relatives). The horse business has declined dramatically since the recession of 2008. I don't even update my web site much these days and my remaining foal crops and brood mares are enjoying life with us on our ranch (that is not to say that our stallion would not enjoy a little breeding now and then -- we have him in with our old broodmare in her 30's. If she produces a foal, we are calling him Jesus).
My other business is rolling along and I am maintaining the Intranet I created for Northrop Grumman subsidiary years ago and now my video work consists primarily of Celebration videos. Still, it is heartwarming work to help bring closure to so many.

I know it's been a long time since I've added anything to this page, yet I have been busy finishing up my MS in GIS (Geographical Information Science/Technology. I am excited about being able to add a geospatial aspect to my web site -- much more than just a Google map -- I'm talking interactivity and analysis. I finally revamped my Thumbs Up Production website ( http://www.thumbsupproduction.com ) with much kicking and screaming. You see, I don't like the new WordPress style of slick transitions between pages filled with stock photos and very little content. Goes against my grain as a web site developer; yet since many of my new clients want that format, I had to show them I could create it. They still focus on content, despite the new format. I did so by circumventing the normal new format and adding slideshows with content attached. Please visit my new site and give me feedback -- there is no such thing as negative feedback, as I learn from all. I still create traditional web sites where content is king and the audience is focused on that.

I used the modern format with slick transitions, etc, which was difficult with all my videos. Had to use work-a-rounds and traditional pages for videos. Quite a project, yet now I can have both! Video intense and content driven yet using new modern interface. Still need traditional approaches for highly content-driven sites such as my http://www.iasoberg.com, my http://www.imprinting.org, and http://www.carljeffers.com. Wordpress looking sites do not work well with these types of sites. I've found that the key to success with search engines and traffic is to know your intended audience and purpose.
