💭This morning I had x amount of time to crank out a new website design start, content planning and a to do list that frankly made me feel like a Monday. I sit down and spill an entire cup of coffee on my computer, bag, window — it was touching everything + I just started laughing.
I made the people around me laugh + we just made light of it, some trying to share their stories of how they have spilled at the worst times. It actually made me in a better mood bc we just laughed.
It reminded me of something I read once so I dug it back up—
You’re holding a cup of coffee when someone accidentally bumps into you, causing it to spill everywhere.
Why did you spill the coffee?
“Because someone bumped into me.”
Wrong answer.
You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup. If there had been tea in your cup, you would have spilled tea.
Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.
So, when life shakes you up, whatever is inside you will come out. It’s easy to pretend everything is fine—until you’re shaken.
So, we have to ask ourselves: What’s in my cup?
When life gets tough, what spills over?
Joy? Gratitude? Peace? Humility?
Anger? Bitterness? A victim mentality? A tendency to quit?
Remember: Life gives you the cup. You choose what to fill it with.
Wanted to share this today bc today I laughed but that’s not everyday. We can choose what’s in the cup. 🤍☕️
