AI can't reason about what it can't see because AI requires evidence or the observed signals.

Correlation requires co-occurrence. If it is not in the data set it doesn't exist to the machine.

So the key insight is if there are omitted variables, there are going to be blind spots forever.

Need a quick refresher on the Virtana Platform?

Modern IT environments are interconnected systems spanning clouds, data centers, containers, services, networks, storage, and now AI factories. The days of isolated applications and infrastructure are behind us.

That is why Virtana was built differently.

The Virtana Platform provides AI-native observability across your entire environment, correlating telemetry, dependencies, performance, cost, and business impact into a single operational view. Instead of forcing teams to jump between tools, Virtana helps identify what changed, what is affected, and what is driving the issue.

With unified observability across infrastructure, applications, services, and AI workloads, teams can move faster from detection to root cause and resolution.

If it has been a while since you explored the platform, here is a good place to start: https://hubs.la/Q04kzxDJ0

As Virtana Chief Product Officer Amit Rathi shared in a recent CIO article: "AI model debt builds when models drift or degrade without teams knowing why, leading to compounding performance and reliability issues."

As AI adoption grows, so does the risk of hidden technical debt. When performance drops, teams need visibility across models, data pipelines, and infrastructure to understand whether the issue stems from data drift, pipeline failures, or resource constraints.

Observability is an essential requirement for reliable AI operations.

Pressured to bring AI benefits to the bottom line quickly, CIOs are cutting corners in ways that will result in some of IT’s most debilitating tech debt yet.

At Observability Summit North America 2026, one theme stood out: monitoring systems is no longer enough. As AI agents take on operational decision making, organizations need visibility into not just what happened, but why it happened.

At the same time, enterprises face growing pressure to balance richer telemetry with rising observability costs, while proving value faster than internal teams can build their own solutions. The future of observability lies beyond just collecting more data, it depends on turning telemetry into understanding, accountability, and action.

Three key takeaways from the summit:
- Agent observability must include reasoning, not just actions
- Telemetry strategy is becoming a business decision, not just a technical one
- Time to value is becoming a critical factor in every observability investment

Virtana's David McNerney shares candid takeaways from Observability Summit North America 2026 — on agentic AI, telemetry costs, and the DIY threat nobody's talking about.

AI factories are often described as if they are just a cluster of GPUs. That framing is convenient, but incomplete.

In reality, an AI factory is a deeply interconnected system. GPUs may get most of the attention, but they are only one part of a much larger operational fabric, composed of compute, storage, networking, data pipelines, orchestration platforms, cloud services, and applications.

For example, low GPU utilization might look like a GPU problem, when the real issue is a storage bottleneck, network congestion, or a misconfigured Kubernetes cluster. The symptom appears at the GPU layer, but the root cause exists elsewhere.

And that's really what Virtana does. Virtana doesn't just look at discrete components. Virtana looks at the entire system.

At Virtana, we know that peak performance starts with balance!

Once a quarter, we hit pause for “Fun Friday” and encourage employees to keep their afternoons free to recharge however they choose. A hobby, an adventure, time with family, or simply some well deserved rest.

Two weeks ago was all about stepping away from the keyboard and making space to reset. Here is a look at how our team spent their Fun Friday!

Meet the faces behind Virtana! Today, we're shining the spotlight on Ankur, our dedicated Software Engineer. With 5 years of experience in backend systems and scalable architecture, Ankur is passionate about exploring emerging technologies, building future-ready platforms, and staying ahead in an ever-evolving tech landscape. He brings a forward-thinking approach to engineering, always looking beyond the immediate problem to what’s next. Get to know him:

1. How long have you been with the company?
I’ve been with Virtana for around 1.5 years, and it’s been an exciting journey - working on challenging problems, taking ownership, and continuously pushing myself to learn and grow while contributing to impactful systems.

2. What does your job entail?
My role involves building backend systems with a strong focus on scalability, adaptability, and long-term impact. I actively explore and adopt new technologies, evaluate better approaches, and challenge existing patterns to improve how we build systems. I believe engineering is not just about solving current problems, but about anticipating future needs and building systems that can evolve with them.

3. What’s the best advice you can give to someone who just started their career?
Focus on learning deeply rather than quickly. Build strong fundamentals, stay curious, and take ownership of your work early on. You don’t need to know everything - but being willing to learn, adapt, and step up will take you far.

In his latest blog, “What Google Next ’26 Tells Us About the Future of Observability,” Virtana Director of Product Management David McNerney breaks down the biggest themes shaping enterprise infrastructure and operations.

From AI agents entering real operational workflows to OpenTelemetry becoming essential for AI observability, Google Cloud Next ’26 highlighted how quickly enterprise environments are evolving.

A few trends stood out:
- Cross cloud visibility is becoming critical
- Observability data is expanding beyond IT into business decision making
- AI driven operations are becoming part of the modern enterprise stack

At Virtana, this aligns closely with what we are seeing across hybrid and multi cloud environments every day. As infrastructure grows more distributed and dynamic, organizations need visibility that connects performance, capacity, cost, and operational intelligence across the full environment.
