📣 We’re humbled & excited to announce that former Google tech lead and branching innovator Patrick Flor () has joined Spindle as our newest Senior Engineer! 🎊 A multi-lingual, multi-disciplinary creator & former startup founder himself, Patrick is obsessed with simplifying complex tools to enable discovery, leverage, and even play (🪁) through computation. Tracing his passion for product-minded back through mathematics & design to Apple HyperCard (like so many Spindlers), Patrick is now Spindle’s Tech Lead for the “core platform” that empowers our beta users to quickly create interactive without code. 🧮
Patrick was previously an early engineer at pioneering startup Wagon—acquired by Box—before becoming a Tech Lead for dataflow/ETL at Google. 👨💻 He later served as VP of Engineering at Spindle co-founder Carson Kahn’s penultimate company—JPMorgan Chase & Co. In-Residence business Volley AI—in charge of multiple engineering teams & specialities across the country. 🤖 With Volley alum Alex Pearson, he subsequently launched “branching databases” service Platter.dev—originator of the celebrated Branchstack model for distributed systems—with funding from the former SVP of Engineering at Google, CTO of Goldman Sachs, and more. 🛠
When not working or learning (usually both at once!), Patrick casually reprises elements of his former careers as a gifted musician 📯, professional educator 👨🏫, dilettante mathematician 🧮, and casual linguist 💬… always teaching our team at Spindle something new, wonderful, and inspiring. 🚀 Long passionate about “shifting from a world where computers use people, to one where people use computers”, he also previously chaired The University of Kansas’ chapter of The ACM - Association for Computing Machinery, and today lives just a few hours away in St. Louis, Missouri with his loving wife, four brilliant children, and a pup.
