Most software pricing stops at the subscription.

The real cost shows up afterwards: time spent copying data between tools, repairing integrations, managing access and working out which system is right.

Before renewing a stack, put an hourly cost beside that work. If the admin required to keep the software running is rising faster than the value it creates, the price on the invoice is not the price you are paying.

Topolo's view is simple: software should be priced against work removed, not fragmentation preserved.

A small change we shipped this week, and why it matters.

Our developer tools — SDK, CLI, MCP server — used to ship with a built-in list of Topolo applications. Convenient, and quietly wrong the moment anything changed. This week we removed it. The tools now ask the platform what exists, live, under the caller's credential.

The principle is bigger than the change: a client should never claim to know what the platform offers. It should ask — and the answer should already reflect who is asking.

Ask an operator what their software costs and you'll get the subscriptions. Ask what it takes and you get a different list: logging in again, remembering which tool holds which record, re-explaining access to a new person, checking the same customer in two places.

A shared foundation makes distinct Topolo products coherent, governable, and extensible — one identity, shared context and governed action across them, rather than each app arriving with its own version of all three.

What's the step you'd delete from your week first?

The obvious case for consolidating software is financial: fewer subscriptions, fewer surprise renewals.

In the agent era there is a bigger one: fragmentation of context. Your customer exists in the CRM, their messages in an inbox, their contract in file storage, the follow-up in a task tool. A person reconstructs that by switching tabs. An agent either needs an integration for every pair of systems — or a broad browser session with all the risk that carries.

An agent working across a connected platform reasons from one consistent context instead. That advantage grows with every connected application.

Fewer tools is only the beginning: https://topolo.io/blog/saas-consolidation-agent-era?utm_source=social&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=week3

Most software now has an AI button. That does not make it agent-native.

A copilot summarizes a page and drafts a message while the system underneath still assumes a person clicking through screens. Agent-native starts deeper: the agent is a real operator with an identity, a defined scope, discoverable capabilities, and an audit trail — using the same platform truth as the people it works alongside.

If a person can see a record but can't edit billing, the same boundary should hold when their agent acts for them.

Why we think the category is an operating platform, not a chat feature: https://topolo.io/blog/agent-native-business-software?utm_source=social&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=week3

Before you add another SaaS tool, run this 20-minute stack audit.

For the tool you're considering, write down:

1. Which existing subscription will it replace?
2. Where will it create another copy of a customer, document or task?
3. Who will own access, permissions and offboarding?
4. Which manual handoff or integration will it create?
5. What breaks if you remove it in 90 days?

If the honest answer to the first question is "nothing", you are not simplifying the business. You're adding another dependency.

The next generation of business software should be judged by how much work it removes: fewer logins, fewer copies, fewer handoffs, fewer hours spent reconciling the stack.

That is the standard we're building Topolo against.

A week of showing the working: what the connective cost of a software stack actually is, why an agent needs a seat rather than a shared password, why a system should refuse rather than quietly answer the wrong question, and what happens when a capability only exists inside a screen.

Topolo is one operating layer for people, agents, and the applications that run a business. A shared foundation makes distinct Topolo products coherent, governable, and extensible.

Topolo starts at $8.56 per seat per month on annual billing, with a 14-day free trial. Billed annually; terms apply.

Before an agent touches production, three answers should already exist: which identity it acts as, which person owns it, and how it is revoked.

If the answer to any of them is the name of a credential rather than the name of an accountable operator, what you've deployed is not an agent seat. It is a shared secret with a job title.

What an accountable seat actually carries — identity, scope, an owner, revocability, and a record: https://topolo.io/blog/agent-seats-not-shared-credentials?utm_source=social&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=week3

Pick any change in your business from last week and ask for its record.

If the answer arrives as a query over structured events — operator, authority, context, outcome — you have an operating record. If it arrives as a grep across services, every governance promise above it is a reconstruction.

Most platforms have a debugging artifact. When every surface — web app, CLI, SDK, agent — executes through one governed action layer, the audit trail stops being forensic debris and becomes the operating record of the business.

Two ways for software to handle a request it can't satisfy.

One: return the closest thing it has, with a success code. Convenient, and occasionally catastrophic — because the caller now believes something untrue and acts on it.

Two: refuse, and say why. Less convenient. Correct.

The second becomes non-negotiable when the caller might be an agent rather than a person. Topolo exposes explicit, permissioned operations for humans, agents, CLI, SDK, and MCP — explicit contracts, and explicit refusals.
