Audio Directions

Audio Directions Consumer-preferred Assistive Listening Systems deliver hearing access in any size space - seamless, wireless and no latency!

Like ramps and curb-cuts for wheelchairs, wireless audio technology in spaces of public accommodation should always be "ON" and available -- delivering clear, filtered sound to all brands of hearing aids and cochlear implants. This is good for all of us -- the 48M Americans with hearing loss (HLAA estimate) and those who need or want to communicate effectively with them. As a bonus for those who own or manage Title II and III spaces, assistive listening systems deliver ADA compliance and a culture of inclusivity. Follow to learn more!

This is probably one of the biggest misconceptions about hearing loss.

People often think that once I put my hearing aids in, I can hear just like everyone else.

I wish it were that simple.

Hearing aids make sounds louder, but they don’t remove background noise, make every word clear, or magically restore perfect hearing.

I still have to lip read.

I still miss words.

I still ask people to repeat themselves.

I still have to concentrate much harder than most people realise.

So if I ask you to repeat yourself, please don’t feel awkward or frustrated. A little patience can make a huge difference.

Hearing aids help me hear……

They just don’t make me hear perfectly 👂

"The audiologist had offered her the option to include a telecoil, a tiny wire receiver that is included in some hearing aids and cochlear implants. Telecoils pick up magnetic sound signals from assistive listening systems, which can be installed in public spaces and transmit audio directly to users with hearing loss, reducing background noise and providing clearer sound."

Bluetooth Auracast technology could be great for expanding access. But for now, hearing aids with telecoils are still important.

As part of our ongoing commitment to accessibility and making travel easier for everyone, we’ve added a hearing loop in our new concourse!

So, what is a hearing loop? It sends audio straight to compatible hearing aids and cochlear implants, cutting background noise and making airport and gate announcements clearer and easier to hear!

The hearing loop is currently available at Gates 5–10 and will expand to the existing concourse once renovations are complete.

Customer counters with secure windows need intercom systems.

They transfer sound from one side to the other so customers can hear staff clearly and vice versa.

They're especially important where people might need essential information or be in distress, like in a police station.

While 'The Witness' on Netflix is a drama, it tells a true story and it's good to see the realistic recreation of a police counter with our window intercom and hearing loop in place.

An inability to communicate clearly only adds to someone's distress or confusion so if your premises have a secure window, a high quality window intercom system is a must.
