If you’re new here WELCOME! Buckle in and get ready for a wild ride. We aren’t your boring, corporate packaging company that drones on about things that no one understands but other packaging people. We love educating our customers about packaging and the paper industry so they are better equipped to make decisions for their business when it comes to packaging. We also have the best vibes and structural designs in the industry, but we don’t want to toot our own horn too much.

American UX researcher Don Norman once said “Good design is invisible.” We think about this quote a lot when it comes to retail-ready packaging.

The design of the best shelf packaging rarely gets noticed. Nobody compliments a clean perforation. But they definitely notice when the perf tears halfway across the panel. Or when the front edge rips off. Or when a display looks exhausted by the second week on the floor.

Good retail packaging isn't just about getting product to the store. It's about surviving the transition from shipper to shelf and still looking like it belongs there until the product is gone.

When the perforations break cleanly, the structure holds up, and the product presents exactly as intended, nobody thinks about the structure. That's the point. Good design is invisible.

Here’s a quick video that we sent out to a customer to show some custom inserts we designed for their jars. We designed these using EB double wall (if that soulds like a foreign language to you head back a few posts and watch our flutes explainer video).

Is digital printing the answer? Maybe!

Digital is great for:
•lower volumes and small runs
•fast turnarounds (no plates = less setup time)
•frequent artwork changes (again...no plates)
•seasonal or limited-edition launches
•variable data and personalization

It’s especially useful when flexibility matters more than massive volume.

Need to test three concepts before committing?
Launching a short-run holiday pack?

That’s where digital starts making a lot of sense.

Like most things in packaging, the “right” print method often depends on the job.
