A question we hear a lot: "What actually happens if a covered charger fails?"

We start by trying to repair the covered product through our industry-leading service network. If that's not the right fit, we replace it with an item of like kind or quality. And if that's not possible either, we reimburse the cost of the covered product (excluding sales tax) plus applicable installation fees.

A "covered" charger replacement almost cost $10,000.

Here's what OEM warranties don't tell you... they cover the equipment, but not the labor.

One of our customers had a DC fast charger fail while still under the OEM warranty. The manufacturer agreed to replace it. Problem solved, right?

Not quite. Swapping a DC fast charger means:
- Removing and disposing of the failed unit
- Installing the new one
- Commissioning it to get back online

None of that is covered by the OEM. The customer's projected cost for labor alone was $10,000+.

Most OEMs don't realize their warranty program may not be legal.

State law defines insurance functionally: a paid-for promise to cover contingent future losses. Self-funded warranty coverage usually falls inside that definition unless it's properly licensed and structured.
