TekTip Lite - Avoiding the "Why are you staying at this hotel next week" from your significant other?

Maybe you've noticed, maybe you haven't, but Google has started adding Hotel Stay deals to your calendar. Really cool if you travel a lot, but might raise some uncomfortable discussions with your significant other if they happen to see these event notifications.

To turn off these evening-ruining notifications, go to the little cogwheel settings on your google calendar, click on "Settings", then stay on the General tab, and scroll down a little ways to "Events from Gmail" and uncheck it. Instantly, the nights have become much more friendly.

One step closer. Amazon delivers its first package completely by drone. It took 13 minutes from order to delivery. There's a lot of issues including security and package hijacking to consider, but it still is very cool stuff.

Initial test last week in Cambridgeshire, England, needed only 13 minutes from order to delivery.

"TekTip Email Scam Alert for Facebook" - So here's a new one we saw in our own email inbox this morning.

As you know, Facebook (and many other sites) will alert you when you reset your password, just to make sure you are actually the one who has reset it. Well in this case, I saw this email stating I had changed my password on Facebook when I hadn't. The first clue this was a scam was the somewhat broken English subject title "Someone have your password". We would say, "Someone Has Your Password".

The second clue was looking at the email address the notice was sent from (see photo). This pretty much confirms this was a scam and we deleted it right away.

iPhone 7 Specs Released Today During Apple Event Post Update #1... What the Hell does Water Resistant Really Mean?

Some great new features and functionality released today during Apple's release of the specs of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Most notably the iPhone's immersion into water resistant hardware. Something Samsung Galaxy users are well accustomed to now.

Phil, during his presentation, showed a person falling into a pool. Looking at the fine print, we see the iPhone 7's are IP67 rated. The number 6 means completely dust proof, and the 7 (out of a scale of 8 which is what the Samsung Galaxy S7 is) is immersion proof from 1cm to 1 meter for 30 minutes.

So can you be out in the heavy rain with your iPhone 7....it seems so. Can you fall into the pool with your iPhone 7....it appears so as well. How about those moments when you drop your phone into the toilet?...again...it appears to be able to withstand that now. Can you take it to the beach and have it in your pocket while you swim...probably not for a long period of time. Same goes for all day swimming, however going to the water park and going down a water slide....seems like you'll be ok.

TEK TIP - Apple Purchase Phishing Scam, Be Very Aware!

So today I received an email from "Apple" stating my appleID had been used to purchase a 6S leather case. It says the device used was one not previously associated with your account, so if this wasn't you..click on the link below to dispute it.

There's two things to always check in these emails....one...the sender's actual email address. In our eMail readers these days, just the name is displayed vs the actual email address. In this case, hovering over the "Apple Team" revealed a somewhat legit sounding email. However, Apple doesn't use anything but Apple.com. So 1st big alert.

Second, the link (which you should never ever click on anyway) when you hover over that...revealed a rather creative site domain called "ChinaToUSAForU.com". Yep...this is a scam.

Be sure to check these two things before ever believing anything you receive via email. And, when in doubt, never click on a link in an email, but go directly to the website via your own browser and contact that company's support department.
